I am crying with laughter while watching this. I remember Bob with Gail Tuesday singing that Lucky STar stong. This was a great era for comedy, what with him, Tommy Cockles, John Shuttlworth and more............
Jeez Bob, is that really YOU?? The version you did of Georgie Fame's "Yeah yeah" on Viva Caberet remains probably the funniest thing I've ever seen, certainly I remember laughing 'till it hurt! Is that on here?
Excellent! Do you have the clip of you and Gail Tuesday on the swing?? Classic! Seen you in Sunderland in 1999, funniest thing I have ever seen. You need to come back so I can take my mother, she needs cheering up! ;0)
Sorry Mark (Bob) - I checked out a photo of you as yourself and you have very lovely teeth and they clearly are your own!!I will check out your Facebook page now. Any plans to tour the UK? Am I the only woman that had (has!) a crush on you - or do you have many female followers?X
I had a huge crush on Bob Downe, and was gutted when an Australian friend pointed out that the hair and teeth were not real. Never got over that. Come back Bob!!!
Pleased to hear it. I was beginning to think you were an unsupervised sad little kiddie abandoned in front of the tele to fantasise and obsess over unhealthy 1950s subversive artistes. Jesus was in Mum and Dad's genes.
Actually, they ARE that way inclined... they've performed and sang in choirs and glee clubs all their lives. Both have superb voices and very musical ears.
Brilltastic...made my sides hurt...what tones, and the faces keep it coming,i could watch it all day,i will be walking about with my shoulders going up n down now for ages..
I am very angry because I've never seen you on U.S. television, Bob! The first thing I noticed about your act is that your voice is actually fantastic despite the silliness. Then I heard you sing as Mark and I was so thrown off by the Aussie accent! You are a true talent and we could use that over here.
my friend and i came to see you in Oxford many years ago, and we were late. arriving in our cammo pants was a mistake - you quipped: "ahhh, relax everyone, the cavalry's arrived!" then you did Prince's 'Gett Off' which was even better than Prince does it lol
Any chance you can post 'Mack The Knife' from this show please? I LOVE that!
ta Paddy! have you still got your cammo pants? ;-) please come up and catch the show in Edniburgh! first time back in five years, 7-25 Aug, 6pm (not Mondays or Sundays).
I was at this show when it was being recorded, what I remember most was martine eating the sweets that was Anthony Newleys props!!(he sang the candy man) Bob Downe was so funny, we were sitting in the front so we had a real good view, I'd forgotten all about this until I came across it, thanks for posting it, it bought some good memories to the surface.
@bobdowne4real That's it, Bob. All the untermensch ;)
Now shouldn't you be trolling public toilets rather than past glories on YT?
