  • what is up with that bassline? Damn, this is ethereal.

Mike might underscore this now and even years ago but this is some heavy dope for sure

  • Most beautiful song ever?

  • @tourettes84 It's in the discussion....I would submit "Nightswimming" for that title as well...

  • Greatest album by the greatest band of our times.

  • @maxon1264 Polemic comments like that limit you.....

  • this song sends me back to another time, with goose bumps.

  • Magical, poignant, catharthic- I played this song over and over and over when I heard it first, and it never ever loses its effect. Perfection.

  • Played the grooves smooth on my first record. Goodbye and thanks for the great music

  • These songs will end up in a time capsule ...

  • sad,brilliant,

  • Murmur's only real competition for greatest album ever is Automatic for the People. I will miss REM, favorite band for 17 years.

  • One of my all time favorite bands! Sorry to hear of the break-up and looking forward to hearing of a reunion album at some point. Always an optimist!

  • thank you soooo much. x end of a lot.

  • Thanks so much for 31 amazing years.

  • Put your hair back we get to leave.......

  • i remember feeling jaded at 17 listening to this album. that was 28 years ago.

  • I am rediscovering all this great stuff by REM I listened to when I was in high school. Murmur is just a brilliant album. God, these guys were talented....

  • REM was at their best before they went commercial. I listened to them constantly!!! Their first few albums were their best, imho; and after Green, I just didn't like them as much But kudos to them for lasting so long in the business...truly a GREAT band.

  • I bought Murmur in vinyl in 1981 then CD yesrs later now I have it in my MP3 player. One of the best rock albums ever.

  • I just listened to murmur yesterday. It was an amazing album, and this is a great album.

  • REM have an astoundingly large and rich back catalogue of beautiful songs.

  • I don't stop and comment on each and every one that I download

you are an angel, 5h4rdSaw!!! :)

  • love!

  • this album was really good.

and his approach to singing these songs was better, you hear more of his voice and less of his...how do I say 'prissy whine' without offending anyone...hmmm, dunno so oh well.

  • My fave REM song

  • Any debut album that has "Pilgrimage", "Talk About the Passion", "Radio Free Europe", "Moral Kiosk", and this haunting little masterpiece has got to be one of the greatest!

  • God I loved this album, especially this song. How is it possible that 27 years have passed since?

  • @longlakeshore don't even talk to me about it! Feels as fresh and immediate as the first time I heard it. Takes me back! And makes me marvel that I ever even was that person who danced to this barefoot in the grass, and how does that person live on in me still?

  • I freakin' LOVE this song. It's absolutely gorgeous, and that piano and guitar are simply heavenly.

  • anyone who loves great classic rock.. i would suggest downloading or purchasing this album.. there is not a single mediocre song on it.. AMAZING CD... 1983.. even before I was born.. Incredible music..

  • @silverchair1979 This isn't classic rock buddy, this is alternative rock. Get it right, the movement behind this music was all about denying the frivolous nature of classic rock (which isn't to say that classic rock didn't produce some amazing music early on, but theatrical rock got old).

However I agree, this is an amazing album and R.E.M. is a great band.

  • @silverchair1979 But your name says 1979, do you know how years work?

  • @acorulez and who said that was the year i was born.. do you know how the brain works.. dumb ass

  • @silverchair1979 I just asked politely, I though you were retarded, but didn't want to sound offensive.

  • @silverchair1979 Classic alternative, mate; classic rock doesn't come close to matching up with R.E.M. ;)

  • @silverchair1979 I agree I would listen over and over, about the time you were born.

  • This is the most underrated REM song of all time.

  • @KDVinson according with you, It´ s a hidden jewel in their discography, very emotional song, it has a great beauty.

  • @Jorgpabl32 Thanks! Listened to nowhere near enough.

  • @KDVinson I know. I know. Its incredible how this isn't more popular.

  • @KDVinson It's an absolute masterpiece. Gives me chills whenever I hear it.

  • @DarthHarima I totally get goose bumps

  • @KDVinson 100000000000000% AGREED.

Always my favorite IRS REM song. Only Sitting Still and Harborcoat come close.

  • @KDVinson Sorry, but wouldn't that be Pilgrimage?

  • stupenda!una delle mie pereferite dei rem...
