They thought it was awful because of the plot, primarily, and I can see why. It doesn't make a lot of sense. But this movie never was supposed to be focused on the music. It was designed to be the rise and fall of a music career. Almost in a Forrest Gump sense.

I will probably never understand why this movie had such bad criticism! It's actually one of my favorite movies! I absolutely love the songs, mariah's voice is out of this world.. The storyline was really good and I think her acting wasn't bad at all! People just think that if she's an amazing singer, she should be an amazing actress too! Granted, she is a singer now as you say, but here it's a different story. The Girl is from Spain right? I think she is Spanish.

Well to the 2 top comments,, i Love Me some Mariah,, and this movie wasnt as bad as they say but Mariahs acting here was Kinda Bad,, she killed it in Wisegirls,, but here not so much!!!!
