  • What about at 6:33, whites to move. Knight to F3? Wouldn't that pin the kind and the tower? Or is it something that Im missing?

  • Why did Tarrasch hate Nimzo? Does anyone know?

  • amaizing,, this just make my day =D

  • Brilliant. Cheers, mate.

  • i like the "move" on 1:38

    LOL

  • Very interesting two amazing player

  • very nice! very nice!

  • Nimzowitsch - Tarrash 1914

  • Comment removed

  • "Sacrifical Tsunami!" what irony! gr8 commentary. thx a lot for this video

  • Great video mate!!

  • masters? anybody couldve seen the fork with the knight and rook on f6 at 6:50

  • @juicyjujubean14 Nf6 King moves then Qg2 mate

  • @Neueregel it would not be mate because the room would have been captured...so white king would be able to go into the e file

  • I like umbrellas.

  • stop the war, stop the blood, stop all sacs - this is really bloody stuff and belongs forbidden under 18 years old fellows. Getting the king over the board, yep

  • Not only it was a sadistic finish the mate G7 was still on!! hahaahahha even more painfull

  • I don't see you guys rating the kind of mate i'm contemplating...

  • Tarrasch took the king hostage here, marched him into the enemy camp where he was slain

  • @TheGambler666 slain is the right word!!!!!!!!!!!!! if tarash proceeded normally King would just have been captured:D but here literally slain! hatred at its best! lol

  • Whats the difference between classical and modern style?

  • @chris69666 Classical is where you establish pawns in the center and hypermodern is where you try to control the center more with your minor pieces from the sides.

  • um um um ummm um um um

  • Who's white?

  • Awesome!

  • Great title and outstanding commentary/ Thanks.

  • its a good mate but i dont know why you put the most sadistic

  • What a closed english, I hardly understand it

  • Why didn't Nimzo resign? Is resignation a relatively recent addition to chess?

  • @Saqu0007 I think it wasn't so obvious at first look, after all, he had almost equaly material

  • damn, its like a king crucifixion

  • You need to slow down a bit. For example you mention the queen taking on h2 after the pawn on h2 had been captured before by the bishop and this isn't the only instance, e.g. in the Nimzovitsch vs Capa game you mention that white should play f3 supporting his knight when it fact it would support his pawn on e4. Please don't take this personally, it's early days and I really appreciate the hard work. It's meant constructively. Looking forward to seeing many more. Thanks.

  • what a great mate !

  • hi bruce! what a deliciously sadistic game indeed. do you know when and where they played this game?

  • Why not make them yourself EM!

  • I like the posts, but please rehearse you talk. Very off puting, listening to em em em em.

  • I disagree.. i enjoyed watching and listening to the video. Beautiful chess. Keep it up.

  • Beautiful!

    And Brutal!

    Thanks for the vid!

  • what program did you use to simulate the game?

  • Shredder

  • I think Nimzo needs to read his own chapter about prophylaxis. I'm a big fan of "Mr. T" and i loved to see this mauling. Great annotations and thx.

  • Greet! Greet!

  • nimzo was latvian but 100% german jew..riga and much of latvia was german and probably still is. I dont think nimzowitsch invented the hyper school..but he articulated it in a way that i think reveals grandmaster chess more then anyone. he was the magician that gave away the tricks. in the game presented here we see tarrasch punishing nimzos rather lazy play. no doubt the proper result. thanks for the lesson.

  • Nimzo created the hyper school. The Nimzoindian Defence was the "beginning" of the hypermodern chess.

  • A sacrificial "Tsunami" against the white King!!! Great line. Good commentary.

Do you think Tarrasch asked Nimzowitsch out for drinks after the game so they could discuss the weakness of his defense against those Bishops?

Thanks again Bruce, good job, dp

  • what a game! really sadistic. bishop from the like a dagger! i loved the taste of videos. good games..

  • I really love the look of the board you guys use it. What chess software is it?

  • I use Shredder

  • @brucewallace2 nice vid thanks... just for fun if you have it, it would be nice to also see the game were korchnoi beat spassky in 12 moves.. i know there is probably no educational video but imagine it to be really funny

  • bruce enjoyed the video your doing a great job all the best Jim Crawford

  • amazing

  • good game..

  • bravo

  • Do you really think that Nimzowitsch done move Nh4 for threat Nf5 ? and lost tempo without purpose? come on...

  • Yes itn was an innacuracy. Do you have an alternative elanation?

  • Nh4 in this case was of course innacuracy, but it was not done for Nf5, it was done (most probably) to force oponent do g6 to weaken castle pawn's structure. In this case Nimzowitsch did underestimate options of white. It was mistake that he played strategic in time when were more tactic problems. But I think that lose after attack of this kind wasn't shame :) merry Xmas

  • Nimzowitsch wasn't "father" of hypermodern School, he just wanted people to think that so he can get sponsors to get money to challenge world's master. He was just one of those who started play that style, like Alekhine or Réti

  • I bow to your superior knowledge Merry Xmas

  • @Geppy23 thats total bull nimzowich was way to weak and he knew that

  • Cute mate and easy to find, I think it's silly that Tarrash missed a mate in 3, and even more silly if he did on purpose.

Let me just remind everybody that in 1914 Nimzowitsch was still developing his style. He soon proved a far superior player than Tarrasch.

  • Great Videos! Entertaining thorough and instructive.

  • nimzovitch lived in germany, but he was actually latvian.

    nice video.

  • nice video and a spectacular Scottish Accent ! xD

  • The sixty four squares.

  • 'recently'?? it was 6 months ago!

  • sorry what is the question?

  • nothing, u just said you posted the alekhine game recently and it was 6 months ago.

i wish it was recent because i like everyone really enjoy your videos.

  • Unfortunately I have been trying to load this video for ages but You Tube wasn't accepting it. I actually made it some time agao. Thx for being paient.

  • Excellent game. Excellent video even though I had problems with understanding the dialect from time to time. On the other hand, I like the accent ;) so whatever :)

  • There is a mate that is still more sadistic, I think. Instead of Bb5+, how about Rd8 check! If KxR, then Qd6 check and it will be mate in the next move with the bishop. If they King does not take, it will be mate either way anyways. I hope I didn't overlook something.....Great game and great commentary. These videos are so much more enjoyable when we know the story behind them. Keep them coming!

  • Thanks a lot for your video.

  • Good game by a great player

  • Ahh... the only thing better than a good chess game is a good story to go with it! Thank you for sharing, Bruce, and good to see you posting again!

  • Awesome game!

  • Good stuff.
