That would be an Ice Auger those fishermen are using, Tim. The noise coming from the ice is not unusual, at least not in Minnesota where I grew up on the St. Croix River.

This is all new to me. I've never lived near lakes that freeze. I'm amazed by the power of the ice, the sounds, the beauty. Mother Nature knows how to put on a show.
