Her father is responsible. He sent her in to that lion's den. He knew. He was told by those that cared about Shaniyah that "bad things happened" to her when she was at her mothers. He had two offers to take her in by people who were already taking care of her siblings. They didn't want her to go to her mother's. They feared for her safety. He had five children. Only Shaniyah was with him. He is a negligent and irresponsible parent.

It's been a year since the horrible tradegy but the affects are still the same anger, saddness, and disbelief.

It's a strange thing that happened to me, I WAS TALKING WITH A FRIEND OVER THE PHONE, and Shaniya came to my mind. i don't know why but I research her to fine your tribute to her. I am glad I saw it being that I was able to cry instead of being overcome with anger. thank you much.

This tradgedy is so heartbreaking. Why do this to a precious & innocent child of God. Shaniya had a blessed life ahead of her. She is always smiling , she was only 5 and did not deserve this. I have seen this tradgedy on the news, online and Nancy Grace all that week thru her funeral, each day was more clues to this case which is sad & emotional. I just pray for her and the father. Those people that did this tradgedy will pay in prison,they need the death penalty, they took a life of a child.

I didn't know this child, but I have cried for a week over her. My daughter saw the story that I had printed out laying on my dining room table with Shaniyas picture showing and she said "mommy, that looks like me." The whole story makes me physically ill. I just can't stop thinking about it. There will never be justice for Shaniya, because unless the two people responsible for her death could actually ever feel what she felt, they won't suffer enough.
