Awhile back, Disney railroaded an extension to the copyrights act, so I have to wonder how if they got their 1930s art and animation out of the public domain, that you can claim a Fletcher Hanks work from the 1940s is in PD. Something from the '40s couldn't be PD if 1930s stuff isn't.
@EdGauthier1 It's more complicated than that. Some things from the 30s and 40s are public domain and some aren't. A lot of it has to do with whether copyright extentions were filed or not. All of Fletcher Hanks comics stuff is now published in two volumes by Fantagraphics... it specifically mentions in both books that all the original comics are public domain. Also you can find this stuff on a handful of web sites out there that post public domain comics.
Damn Straight!!! As long as there are terrorists... we'd sure as hell keep invading countries AND supporting repressive regimes!!! Now that's what I call... FREEDOM!!!
oh... uh... er... Sorry. :-/ That was just an unrelated politicalrant. My bad!
Great to see you again mysterywalker! Glad you made it back in one piece and hope you don't have to go back. I'd like to hope no one goes back, but... I think that is some wishful thinking!
This is the ONLY time ive copied-and-pasted-and-printed the comments off the side of a youtube video. If mysterywalker steps away from working with wonky vid editing software, then I want him to WRITE.
I was just reading the "Supermen!" Anthology from Fantagrphics. They had two Fletcher Hanks stories.....Once I read them, I had to find out more about this weirdo.
The only problem with that is that I'm a man and therefore don't have a female voice to record. I like Fantomah, tho, so I'll think about what I could do. In the meantime I think Fantagraphics is releasing a new Fletcher Hanks boook next month... although you can already get all the Fantomah stories online, I think
MW, Another great job, sir. It's watching a 40's adventure comic come to life, exactly. Nice tongue in cheek. Excelsior! Bravo!MORE (pleeeeeeeease)!!!!
Of course. You haven't missed too much. I was in Iraq for far too long and now, while continuing to be in the army, I'm an animation student -- ironically it hasn't left me much time to try to animate anything...
Yeah, he is a weirdo... but I will say from art school (nothing to do with this video) that in copying his style (for an assignment)... I suspect he actually knew quite a bit about art... you know, despite being pegged as a horrible artist. As for adustments, I guess you mean to home life or something... dude, I'm just too weird... my family life will never adjust. Anyway... make some more videos so I can rate them 5s. Take care...
Welcome back man. I just told someone that I was going to start poking around to see if you were around. One of the truly imaginative critical thinkers, on youtube, returns. HOOAH!
Defending the faithful eh he he... I am good... Back with the Fed here (USBR)... I am glad you are back I am not ashamed to say I missed ya Bro... Looking forward to great stuff from your drawing board...

He's the greatest. His stories are really kind of non-stories, but they're so naive and loveable... it's "outsider art" at its finest

I really love your video,
I was first exposed to Fletcher Hank's work when I picked up a back issue of Fantastic Comics number 4
about ten years ago,
I bought it for the Lou Fine Cover but Hank's Stardust really knocked me over when I first saw it.
I picked another Fantastic at the
New York Comic-Con a couple
of years back just for another Stardust story.
I'm really glad Fantagraphics
is reprinting them all.
Again great job.

I'm familiar with Fletcher's work. Seen some at Comic Con, he's a surreal son of a bitch alright. Great adaption!
Glad to see you're making videos again. Take your time if you're still having trouble with finding inspiration. Adjustments come first.

For Great Justice.
However, Perfect Justice shall only be achieved once Stardust launches himself into the cosmos, in seeeeeeeearch of the the Truth.
