  • C'mon,Dee!!! METAL NEVER DIES!!! Why have to be so sceptic?

  • LOL! Some comments are dead on! Dee is right about what he said, but to put his band with the likes of nirvana and guns n roses is absurd,I totally get his point but, twisted sister was a novelty at best for a couple years. Motley, ratt and def leppard were the big guns back then,I would put T.S a little below quiet riot.

  • From what documentary or TV show is this from?

  • Comment removed

  • Wanna know what's metal??? The cover Twisted Sister done of Leader Of the Pack... Now THAT"S NOT metal. I wont even bother mentioning some of the BULLSHIT TS put out like We'er Not Gonna Take It, I Wanna rock or The Price . Dee is a hypocritical asshole and sooooo not metal

  • Learn your MODES AND SCALES YOU F****IN DOUCH BAG!!! there is a clear difference between the two.

If you were into the music industry you would see, but no your outside opinion of just jamin out in your fuckin underware at your house doesnt really know much about music, study some shit before you go on about it. Life styles man lifestyles!!!

  • @amsden16 What does "MODES AND SCALES" have to do with anything dickhole?.. If you were into the the music you would see Leader Of The Pack and just about everything else Twisted Sister done was pure fucking trash and Dee Snyder has no business talking smack about anybody. But no your outside opinion of just jacking off in your mom's basement doesn't really know much about music (If you're into Twisted Sister that's very obvious) Study this dick before you go on about it you fucking dick lick

  • hey bro, modes and scales are everything to music. im not a big fan of twisted sister, im a big fan of all music, and for you to think you know something more than someone who has obviously made it in the music world really proves you dont have shit, and your petty remarks about licking dick really shows your defence bro, hurt a lil? sorry just figured i would prove my point, that you dont know shit about music or you would be making factual points about the structure of music...

  • @amsden16 Life Styles LIFESTYLES????....... What the fuck does that even mean?...

  • in no way is/did Heavy Metal decline EVER

  • @s1r0tt The decline in the purchasing of metal music would beg to differ, as the new generations came out they went more to pop and punk, but hey all fluctuate regularly. which sucks ass, pop is a bunch of fags standing on stage singing some lyrics they probably didnt even wright to music they didnt even make. but punk isnt bad its like a younger version of metal more pissed off and mixed up haha.

  • Twisted Sister...

the only band i have on my ipod that is 80s...

  • Dee is a wise man

  • He is SO full of himself

  • God I love Dee Snider!!! Every word he speaks is the truth!!!

  • @fore71 its not that i like Twisted Sister, its that Nirvana is nothing more than an emo kids sad band, Guns and Roses is just an overrated piece of shit. Twisted Sister sure as hell is above those two bands, not by much, but they are

  • I guess if you say it enough maybe people will believe it. Twisted Sister is nowhere near the caliber of a Guns and Roses or Nirvana.

4 Guys in street clothes is fine with me, it's better than dressing like drag queens and only getting attention for the freak factor.

Dee seems to have a warped sense of where his band sits in the history of hard rock/ heavy metal music.......it's at the bottom Dee.

  • Did he just put his shitty band in the same sentence as Nirvana? What a joke.

  • Sorry Dee. No record company was trying to recreate numerous copies of Twisted Sister. And Led Zeppelin has lots of acoustic guitars on their albums and I don't think anyone would accuse them of wimping out. For Gods sake Zeppelin had mandolins on their albums and AC/DC had bagpipes.

But he is right about how record companies ruin genres of music by watering it down with poor imitations. That started back in the 40's with the crooners, then Elvis, then The Beatles. They ruin their own business

  • @RocktheStageNYC Led Zeppelin were never, by any stretch of the imagination, a metal band. And I've only heard 1 song by AC/DC that features bagpipes.. Hardly a recurring, fixed asset to the instrumentation, is it?

  • @gerby90 - that was my point. Dee goes on and one about bands wimping out by having ballads and acoustic guitars etc.. but some of the greatest ROCK bands did just that. Even Black Sabbath did a ballad "Changes". I don't think he'd accuse them of selling out. Dee consistently overestimates his contribution to Metal. Twisted was never metal in any way. I can't figure out why they interview him all the time about metal when it should be someone like Bruce Dickinson.

  • @RocktheStageNYC Either way, he still seems to have a clear picture of where metal music was and is going, whether he contributed to the genre or not. In my opinion.

  • @RocktheStageNYC BTW I dig the fact you post singing lessons :) Decent singers are frustratingly hard to find..

  • maybe its because twisted sister was a hair metal band!!! DUH... dude learn your f****n music before you state your opinion you f***in opinion moron. And the greatest rock bands.... wait..... aren't we talking about metal? oh you forgot theirs a difference between rock and metal f****n moron, if you look into the scales and modes of music you would see the clear difference between metal and rock.

  • @amsden16 - Listen butt munch I was head banging to metal 25 years before you were born so don't lecture me on Metal.

You're inability to construct a clear and defined point just shows your ignorance. All you can do is *** out curses. Go now, your Mom is calling you for dinner. Leave the discussion to the adults who actually lived through this time period on Metal.

  • you dont have anything to come back on ea? ur age really proves your ignorance dude. Oh yeah, forgot you been around for ages, so you know about metal? did you know its mainly based around malotic and harmonic minor scales? oh and the attitude... hmmm my point is learn about music before you criticize it you dip shit.

  • @amsden16 - listen little boy - run home to Mom OK? You have no place here. I was headbanging to Ozzy, Maiden, AC/DC, WASP, Accept, Priest, Manowar when your parents were in high school.

I am a student of music. I play 4 instruments. I've been writing and recording music for 30 years. There is NOTHING about Metal YOU can teach me. You're a fucking child who knows NOTHING so shut up already.

Oh and by the way its "MELODIC" not malotic "f****n moron.

  • sorry for my improper spelling homebre, oh your a big time musician, you saying i cannot teach you anything about metal shows your lack of musical quality, anyone can teach anyone something new you fuckin idiot, its an ever changing art, you play 4 instruments really what are they drums bass guitar lead guitar and rhythm guitar.. go study where i have before you make your false accusations on my lack of knowledge, your back water formalities are insane,

  • @amsden16 - I play piano, guitar, violin and drums and I am a graduate of Berklee Music. I have 25+ years of experience on you so don't flatter yourself thinking you know more than me.

Yes Metal uses exotic scales but its more about attitude than anything else. Get your head out of a book and go play. You'll learn more that way. "Studying" isn't everything. I can show you unschooled musicians who would run rings around about theory.

  • and my dad was probably the guy sellin you all that good time you were havin while you went to those shows lil boy. i can tell your really upset with this cuz you have to attempt to put me down, there sad. maybe you should follow a new art cuz your pretty ignorant.

  • @amsden16 - "Lil Boy"? That's rich. I am a 47 year old man with a wife and daughter. You're barely out of high school. Just a few years ago your Mom was still buying your clothes.

Maybe you should learn to spell and stop being such arrogant little fuck who thinks he knows everything about music because he's read some books.

If there's anyone here who is ignorant - its YOU. I'm not upset, I'm just giving you some much needed perspective on what exactly you don't know.

  • dee snider is awesome

  • ahaha, "fucking idiots".

  • Dee for president xD

  • fucking love dee!

  • we just need new differnt sounding bands to actually be discovered and made famous not like all the crap that sounds alike that has come out in the last 10 years

  • Yeah, I hate acoustics, I knew I was fucking right.

  • @kgiarizzy You're pretty ignorant if you don't think metal and the music industry in general hasn't declined in the last 10-15 years.

  • I could listen to this guy rant all day.

  • The only good glam band that wasn't really glam was W.A.S.P.

  • Steel. Panther. =)

  • @TheGooseTavern Sucks.

  • Comment removed

  • @ThrashLivesOn could you explain that please?

  • @ThrashLivesOn Stop living in the 80's. You "true metal" guys are worse than hipster scum.

  • The crass, asinine formula is the same for the garbage that's coming out in the film industry. Clearly, the audience too has dreadfully horrilbe taste in music or film. I thought the hangover movie was fuckin' complete shit, yet it was a box office smash. I'm into 80s metal...the only metal band now that has killer style and fabulously rockin' songs is Hardcore Superstar!! They're totally old school...like the original G'n'R of '87

  • Dee is right, but there are still some awesome bands out there.. But damn they're hard to find amongst all the crap put out today

  • Ballads like Aerosmiths and Tesla were just a fucking embaressment!

  • @sh4rkbyt3 What's wrong with Aerosmith an Tesla?

  • @sh4rkbyt3 Aerosmith inspired everyone from Me to Slash. (for guitar players) so they are one of the best bands ever

  • Well there is some truth in what he's saying. But the bands he's talking about didnt just do unplugged shows. Those were one time deals for those bands. They didnt do it all the time. They still did the heavy stuff. They just showed some variety. Some of it was really good too. Check out "MICHAEL SCHENKER & RATT [ OH, WELL & BORN ON A BAYOU ] UNPLUGGED"

  • i love when he looks at the camera at the end LMFAO

  • DUBSTEP FUCK YEAH

  • nough said

  • Dee speaks the truth

  • This video made me go, oh my god, so many times. I love hair metal so much and I love then doing ballads but Dee is so right. He just gets it.

  • i love dee snider

  • Decline? It's only gotten better. Well, save for the mainstream. But nobody likes the mainstream of any genre except for vacuous cunts anyway. The Melvins, Mastodon, Gojira, Tool, Big Business, Boris... all phenomenal bands that came after Dee's time. You just have to put in the effort to look for good music... and you'll find it.

  • lmao damn right Dee

  • Book publishers have the same problem.

  • agree in parts. but sometimes acoustic stuff is great.

  • Oh shit, he named them.

  • That's not metal!... I am! \,,/

  • This is why bands are supposed to turn against their record companies and say "No, fuck you, I'm doing what I want!", otherwise this happens.

  • I just looooove this guy !

  • Extreme's More than Words SUCKS SHIT FUCK PIECE OF SHIT

  • @marcussilvamgs As an instrumental (see Sungah Jung), it's actually a great piece of melodic music. With vocals, though, it blows. Couldn't agree more. lol

  • Exactly as Dee said. It is why today's music is soulless. That's why there is all of the bullshit "I SHOT THAT NIGGA FUCKED HIS HOS ASS" running around. WHAT THE HELL!?

  • If anyone can save rock n roll, its Dee Snider!

  • Every aspiring recording artist should watch this clip because he is 100% on the money. There should be at least 1 Dee Snyder at every record label in the world to make sure fake shit gets rejected and hard rock get approved.

  • his talking vocal tone sounds like christopher walken. (not his accent)

  • Bollucs! You just have to be willing to accept that it's not or ever will be in "popular" music, which personally is how I like it and want it to stay!!

  • Folk song, hahahaha.

  • god bless dee snyder

  • @blackened2008 Dee Snider made the top 3 at least right?

  • Let me say that: who's keeping the Metal going worse and worse is also who's ashamed to say that he listen to this kind of music or even makes fun of it (I mean in a real bad way, not a funny way). I mean, there's people who hate Metal and metalheads and still listen to Metal, they're idiots and pathetic that they can't admit that this music is just too cool for them.

  • Too true

  • Chuck Norris>Dio>Dee Snider>Everything else.

  • @TheDapack gtfo.

  • Maybe they should get the hip hop artists to do a "acoustic version"Wow wait the retards don't even know how to play!!IAs far as america goes i think the trend is too be the biggest idiot of all..Kinda like hey mother fucker i am the shit cause you are a sucker and you wanna be me!!cause they say i am cool!!

  • this guy could kill chuck norris in 5 seconds

  • @Orthropox14 except no.

  • @Orthropox14 lol :) yes indeed, Dee Snider is a very great man, with even greater songs.

  • Awesome and true, go Dee!

I am glad the record companies are suffering, I just wish they would go away faster, they are not needed.

  • I like CDs better than iPod downloads. It's just nicer. And there aren't any new bands that sound like 80's heavy metal. It's all the same stuff. We need a new band that has the look and sound of Guns N Roses, Twisted Sister, Poison, etc without it being a cover band

  • @CurtisAlfeld Not gonna happen with the COOKIE CUTTER companies. Sad to say it, the closest you will get to it is the good local music if your community has it.

  • @CurtisAlfeld We need bands to create new sounds that no one has done before, but still wears their influences proudly on their sleeves. Bands like Protest The Hero and (dare I say it) Bring Me The Horizon.

  • @CurtisAlfeld CD's?! What the fuck are they?! Vinyl for life!

  • @CurtisAlfeld thats right because thrash wasnt 80s metal... theres tons of thrash out there. thats what ur gonna get. i dont see any popular modernt glam.

  • @CurtisAlfeld I agree and disagree with your comment. CD's are physical. I love the feel of going to a record store and buying CDs, because you can take it home and display it like a trophy. I rip them to the computer and put them on my MP3 anyway, but I still own a physical copy of the music. However I don't want another band like those. It would be... copying, I guess. Not covering, but just on the line between the two words. Not that I don't like those bands, I just prefer originality.

  • @CurtisAlfeld

you can't say that 80's hair metal bands hadn't all the same sound / look:p

except maybe for a few really good ones, like GnR

  • @CurtisAlfeld fuck cds, they are gay. Vinyl is the shit.

  • @CurtisAlfeld i know right, about cds, i hate downloading i feel like a dirty slut when i do that.

  • @CurtisAlfeld poison are bunch of gay fucking posers.. but I agree entirely with everything else.. we need a new Guns n Roses

  • @eatsumsoup guns n roses is a sappy excuse for metal.

  • @metalhealth1980 i don't even call guns n roses metal.. they're rock n roll to me.. same goes with ac/dc, led zep ect.. just cos it's slightly heavy doesn't mean it's metal..

  • @eatsumsoup i know that is why i called it a "sappy excuse", because all their fans say that they are metal.

  • @CurtisAlfeld poison isn't fucking metal. even dee snider hates it.

  • @CurtisAlfeld No dude, we need bands to take a fresh take on the genre and do something new and cool rather than regurgitating old stuff.

  • @CurtisAlfeld steel panther

  • @CurtisAlfeld

    Steel Panther

    Airbourne

    Sister Sin

Some brilliant new bands for everyone to checkout.

  • @CurtisAlfeld Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, Peepshow, Loud N Nasty, Reckless Love all new metal bands that are never going to be pushed in the states because they don't come off American idol or some junk t.v. show. These guys are all in there 20's and have released multiple albums already. They've played all the major rock festivals all over the world. Sweden Rock festival, Donnington, Rock in Rio. Crashdiet has 3 killer albums out and they just hit California last month!

  • @CurtisAlfeld in the 80s average people had vinyl, even in the early 90s no one could afford CD.

    bye bye CD!

  • there was nothing new about nirvana

  • almost 30 years ago dee snider did his homework and made al gore and the pmrc look like a bunch of bumbling fools. and for that alone dee should be put into the rocknroll hall o fame .thank you dee snider i truly appreceate what you did many years ago!!!

  • Thank you Dee! Fuck corporate music...fuck corporate "metal!"

  • My god...Dee is so damn wise! Great guy, lots of charisma!

  • Totally 100 percent WORD!

  • FUCKING IDIOTS!!!!!

  • THATS NOT METAL!!

  • "Fucking Idiots"

  • Screamo is cool, but there's too much. Most new rock bands suck

  • see this why i ain't people dogging on the bands sound like everybody else because the only reason why some bands play the same look the same doesn't mean the bands sound like shit or sound like pop or whatever it's because the record companys flash money in there face anybody who is anybody is going to take the money and run so don't blame it on the bands the record companys rule the music not the bands

  • I would really like to see the clip from the documentary "Warning: Parental Advisory", when Dee Snider defends the music against Tipper Gore. Is there anyone who can upload it?

  • Dee Snider's really clever and well spoken, I loved the interview he had when he defended metal with his speech, brilliant!

And he speaks the truth, power-ballads did kinda go along the lines of killing metal.

  • Or what's a formula that creates Iron Maiden? I don't know, there to damn incredible.

  • The more I hear from Dee Snider, the more I like him. He tells it like it is.

  • Dee Snider is the fuckin man! Thats why music today sucks. It's all cookie cutter crap.

  • i love how he thinks twisted sister is actually successful lol

  • @LivingIn1969 well, they are, they might not have sold 50 million albums or sell out stadiums but they are succesfull becus they are a icon from the 80s ;)

  • Hungrygoth Hahaha soo true

  • is it me or did dee snider just describe Bon Jovi?

  • @HungryGoth I figured he was talking about that band that sang "More Than Words."

  • @montauk6 he was when he talke dbaout the bar stools but when he talked about desmond child and all those guys.

  • @montauk6 That was Nuno Bettencourt - a metal guitarist. Wife Suzie MAroney from baby Animals - an aussie hard rock band.

  • This is the 1st video i've seen with 0 dislikes......cuz u jus cant dislike dee !! Metal all the way \m/

  • @vaibhav402 Now there's 1 dislike. Who's the mother fucker loll. How can someone hate this guy, sounds like someone who has a record compagnie (surely the one that justin bieber has hehe!)

  • @plbuhler He is sooo ryt....todays bands are just cookie cut...we need some revolution bands who can bring metal back from dead

  • @vaibhav402 wolfmother tried - didnt work - hip hop too ingrained now. it aint coming back - but who cares - Just do like me and live in the past - the past had plenty of memories to get us thru to the grave.

  • @BiggerThinking1 indeed hip hop too ingrained but once even heavy metal was mainstream too...idk much abt time cuz i wasnt there at tht time...but if heavy metal was once main stream it can again become mainstream...but yeah there are too many classic old songs tht we dont feel the urge for new one...at least not desperetly... ROCK ON!! \m/

No offense to any of the younger guys on here, but i'm really starting to think that generation Y is the only generation to _not_ contribute anything major to the genres of rock and metal. They tend to just copy the older bands instead of creating new styles, and that explains why there is so much retro crap around nowadays.

all the major sub-genres today were created by the older generations. e.g black metal, death metal etc etc.

  • @lamentate07 Well, If young people like old style, why shouldn't they play it? It's a difference, if you copy, or do the same thing. It's a matter of attitude. And I think people who are somewhat into it will get it quite soon, if it's just copied or truely old fashioned.

  • Dee Snider is a hero to the metal world!

  • why do he allways have glases?

  • @magnustabell When you can actually write a sentence in english, someone might answer you

  • Dee Snider is a fucking hero!!! Long live Heavy Metal!! We love you Dee!!!

  • i would so want this discussion as a ring tone.

  • Well said. I love how everybody thinks metal heads are stupid...Perfect counter example is Dee Snider.

  • For all we know, Bieber might have been a metalhead! Ewwwwwww...

  • Well...he said it all.

  • I FUCKEN LOVE THIS GUY! YOUR SO RIGHT MAN! WHAT A SAD DAY FOR MUSIC IN GENERAL. WE MIGHT NEVER SEE ORIGINAL ARTISTS LIKE GNR, WASP, TWISTERED SISTER EVER AGAIN....FUCK I HATE MANUFACTURED MUSIC AND DAMN ALL YOU RECORD COMPANIES WHO HAVE CREATED THIS MESS CALLED A MUSIC INDUSTRY TO HELL!

  • Four guys sitting on bar stools, singing a folk song LOL ... Dee is awesome!

  • I completely agree with what he has to say

  • So I guess it comes down to who is making the big bucks, if the masses like some little faggot that sings like a 3 year old and there's more people who would pay millions of dollars a ticket to see him in a concert they would rather go for that than a real rock singer. I've had it! I'm taking my sniper rifle and will shoot Justin Beiber tomorrow.

  • unfortunately, tey recreated the wrong things.

    Justin Bieber

    Lady GaGa

    Katy Perry

    etc.

Music has been getting fucked up so badly, Rock and CERTAIN new rap songs sound AMAZING 80s and 90s

  • LOL gottat love DEE. He in NO WAY has shit for brains!

  • I like how the window reflections sort of look like his eyes.

  • Dee you fuckin rock

  • i'm not a big fan of metal or his music, but this guy is real and full of energy and life. not afraid..... to tell it like it is. he is the real deal, no BS. does this persona sell? i don't care i like him.

  • We lived in a world without any clear heroes. Then... Dee Fuckin' Snyder stepped up to the plate! by nature, I hold no man as my role model but Dee Snyder? He DEFINITELY rates an honourable mention! I hold him in the same regards for genius as I do Stephen Hawking, Leonardo DaVinci and Bukka White!!!

  • I'd love to hear a fuckin' hardcore and destroying opinion from this MAN about hannah montana and jonas brothers.

  • Record companies dying off is a good thing.......it takes music back to the grassroots level like it was before greed and commercialism took over

  • soon there will be no record companies and music will reign

  • yea, but rap artists & fans love cookie-cutter. we're doomed

  • fuckin idiots, lol

  • i fucking love u snider

  • He's right....and the same thing is happening to hip-hop music right now. Record companies basically just destroy the real concept of music with greed.

  • Damn right, Dee! Love ya on the "House of Hair".

Seriously though, he's right. Look at Nirvana, then: Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden (who were originally metal but stuck into the cookie cutter), and so many other bands of the "Grunge" sound. Tell me they don't all sound like Nirvana or like they want to choke on a pill and die...

  • @IzzySmith1969

Those bands sound nothing like Nirvana. Have you even listened to them!? AIC and Soundgarden are completely different! And all PJ was before they became a parody of themselves was grunge arena rock. After these guys were the imitators - Bush, Silverchair, Creed, ew Nickelback - those were the cookie cutter grunge bands, and now we have imitators of imitators - Seether, Three Days Grace...just a bunch of awful superfake bands. Cobain must be spinning in his grave.

  • hes right 100%

  • i agree the man has a good understanding of business but doesn't allow it to corrupt that heavy rock'n idealogy

  • Not so smart.

  • dont take that shit de, were not goina take it either

  • Is he talking about (mtv) Unplugged?

  • @sliversophie

No, But he IS talking about corrupt companies like MTV,

Those companies are working for MTV, and MTV makes

sure that those prosessed and pre-produced bands get

famous. But he was talking about back in the day. Now it's

just about finding a chick with a nice voice, nice looks, and

that's basically just a whore. Then MTV makes sure that the

easily persuaded masses stop listening to "that old crap"

and starts listening to..Gaga. "Good for you, now you're a

    popular bitch."

  • Great work! Feel free to comment and rate our videos... take care BRONSON

  • Dee Snider is da man, very smart and honest about how the music business is.

  • Awesome video, I'll use this theory in the future to argue about metal.

  • Fuckin' idiots

  • man i think this is the best explanation of the fucking filthy music industry!

    Dee fucking rules!

  • @Aeshmauniversus hes 100% right too !!!! heavy metal, going to shows, parking lot partys!!!! everything went out the window when grundge music hit!! 4 guys sitting on stools singing how miserable evertything is!!!! public bought it!!!

  • Dee Snider is living proof that you can enjoy metal, bang your head until your hair falls off, and yet be smart enough to confront the rest of society to defend your interests even if society doesn't like it!! I agree with some of the comments below. music today feels so processed that a lot of it seems so similar. There is a lot of raw talent out there, it just seems like that talent is being held back because of the almighty dollar....
