i played this song with my high school quartet in 2006 we took the beginning at the same tempo but the balled portion we took it nice and slow milk the shit out of that thing and the funk part slower then it was taken here but this song has an awesome tenor/bari duet awesome tenor solo in funk section i played tenor on this song.

Hmm sounds really good :) It's a really nice piece, i've played it before. I think we took the 1st shade a bit faster though...provides a bigger contrast to the slow section. Also i think you could stand up! Sitting is contstricting to the way you play and standing you can put so much more energy into the performance and also move around and work as an ensemble better.
