@drumsjm787 I suppose you could, yet I would recommend against it, since it's a different instrument from your regular rock drum kit. I was playing my school's timbales with snare sticks until I picked up some Conquistador timbale sticks/palos from the shop. They bounce very well and are lighter, which is better in my opinion.
@Gentlenesspact Nothing random, it's actually a very coherent and intelligent solo. Maybe you don't understand the Cuban Timbale rhythms and are unfamiliar with the phrasing. If thats the case then I can understand why you think it's random but I recommend you try demystify what he is playing by listening to other great Timbaleros and it may not only make sense to you but excite your senses like nothing else!
Pretty awesome. I love the "tribal" tone this give...I always thought their application in Metal was fantastic (See: Territory by Sepultura and Children of the Grave by Black Sabbath)
The sticks look like dowel sticks. That's what we use to use back in the days before sticks were being made for timbales. He's a great drummer, but his style of playing timbales and the way these drums are tuned, leave a lot to be desired.

Don't know what's worse, the vampy piano or the random rhythm.
Gentlenesspact 2 years ago
... or the cotton wool in your ears! I think a piano vamp really ought to be vampy.
