@shanedk Yes thats true. But i got my Windows XP for more than 5 years and it never crashed. Yes i had a couple of problems with him but it was not Microsoft's foult it was my foult but it did not crashed.
pardon my general ignorance on Linux, but can one get windows programs to run on it? I'm planning a switch from windows 7 to linux, but want to keep the good programs not native to linux. also, video games: I am going to need to be able to run them as is in linux: I'm working on a game development project.
I also want to keep the i7 processor working, as well as the video and audio cards, as they did in windows 7.
@Albukhshi Most of the time; there's a program for Linux called WINE that provides a Windows environment. The thing to do is go to the website; they have a database of what software people have been able to get running and see if the software you want to run is on it.
Another thing you can do is download the free Oracle VM and install Windows in that, then Windows runs in a virtual machine and you can do that for everything that won't run under WINE.
macbook + Digidesign Mbox is endless crashes. I would say mac has its up and downs. Its better then Windows in my opinion, but you sure pay for it. I think it evens out. For their price they are both the same. The shitty thing about mac is you can't put stuff in yourself, my dvd drive failed last month so I had to send it off, cost me 80 euro's, would it have been a pc I would have ripped the drive out of the pc and bought a new one for 20 euro.
LMFAOOOO THE ENDING WAS PRICELESS ,WINDOWS IS CRAP IM SWITCHING TO MAC ALTHOUGH ITS MUCH MORE EXPANSIVE ,BUT I KNOW IT WONT CRASH OR GET DUMB VIRUSES
@shanedk Ive never had a mac crash on me before the most its ever done was pause for like 3 secs but it still worked ,not like windows who crashes and makes you start all your work over
Start using Ubuntu everyone, it was easier to teach my dad use Ubuntu than it was for him to switch from XP to windows 7. It has almost all the softwares you require for basic use from Open office to multimedia editing software, and it's all free!!!!
@Achilles9924 The laptop in the video is now running Ubuntu, and it's running better than it did the day I bought it! I no longer had a need to run specific Windows software on it, and the updates just made it more and more bloated until doing even simple tasks was an exercise in patience. But even the latest Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx) runs beautifully.
win 7 is much faster then vista or xp its a fact i have an i5 core with 4 gb ram, ati hd 4850 1gb and 1,5 tb hdd and 7 runs a lot better then xp XD doesnt make any sense
There's always some other thing you have to buy to have on your pc, like the windows movie maker and photo gallery that were pre-installed on vista and some others.
If they're going to charge me for an upgrade, they'd BETTER offer a lot more than a few security features that should have been in there ten years ago!!!
what would be he point of buying a mac if you're going to use it to run a windows os? it's usually the OS that causes problems, not the computer itself.
although if you have a pc and have access to the pc's BIOS menu and a mac OSX cd, you can also install mac OSX on a pc
Im gonna have to go back to XP....Vista's been a piece of shit and keeps crashin to BSOD......I thought it was Cs-s, i thought it was Firefox, i thought it was Fallout 3, it even crashed just from me watching History Channel - Life after People...but no, i have literally no idea, even the damage/error reports are completely useless....no information at all
nice video by the way, didnt expect the ending but it was awesome, lol
I would suggest that XP is the better option for gamers, while the newest version of incomplete at release OS from microsoft is the better option for business users.
Ever heard of GNU/Linux, or even BSD? I can keep running the former for months without having to reboot (until the next kernel upgrade, that is). I don't know about the latter, but I hear it's even more stable.
You're right on one thing, though - Vista is worse than XP by far.
Funny is i hate vista because i played left4dead i have 4gb ram ati hd series 4800 and lots of things and i just push the pause button i wait a minute and for no reason its says windows finded problem in this program i thinked you are the problem vista this is what he done's in every game exept the old one and the original games vista hates really hates copy game and why because its big piece of shit this is why i deleted vista and started using xp and now its works better and no more f.. crash
Yes, I knew he was joking. He seems to be liking Windows 7, though.
I must say I like that they're going to make a META tag so we can force IE into Standards Mode. Now it just remains to be seen how standards-compliant Standards Mode will (or won't) be...
Golly, Habbo, that's terrible (rolls eyes). I have had Vista, on THREE different machines, one I installed, one "dealer" install and one maker install, and all three have managed to eat a critical file that rendered the hard drive innaccessible so much so I had to use the drive makers software (which all run Dr. DOS, btw) to reformat the hard drives and reinstall Vista again. I also love the "Account Control" on Vista. It's *MY* machine, not Vistas! XP, at least, is compatible with all my stuff.
XP is the worst OS ever made, since it was made. My laptop HAD TWO RE-INSTALLS 1 last year, 1 THIS YEAR... AND IT RUNS WINDOWS XP. YES. WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION! How fucking crap is that? Mac is the real way to go, or linux.
well ive had my computer for 7 years, it was built and it works fine dont get me wrong, but... ive had probloms with there being dead pixels on the screen for short periods of time, and you have to restart the computer with the imergency restart button and let it crash a few times for it to start up, thats it but after 7 years we just decided its a good idea to build a new computer under a vista licence. So thats understandable to switch from xp to vista.
you must be joking! it takes less than two seconds to create a directory in vista. I just timed myself. all it takes is 3 key strokes. AND I can delete a file in windows in under a second. D+Enter. Linux is simply not practical. I can't run anything on Linux. Can't run any games, can't tune my car, can't install any software 5yrs or older, can't install language learning software, can't open anything i am working on in college, cant record my band AND SO ON AND SO ON
It takes a second to TYPE the keystroke. Then you have to wait SEVERAL SECONDS for windows to pull up the dialog box, and then another several seconds for it to actually delete the file when it's done.
You're just ignorant about Linux. All sorts of software for doing just those things is available, most of them for free. For example, record your band in Audition for free, and you have your sound files in a professional-level multi-track editor.
select file, hit D+Y really fast = .8 seconds to delete a file. i timed myself. there is absolutely no waiting (unless you are running vista on 64Mb or ram or something ridiculous like that)
and no sir, it would take weeks getting all those programs to run on linux. why waste my precious time when it already works on windows PERFECTLY!
XP Pro with 4 gigs of ram. 15 seconds to pull up the dialog box, another 10 to actually delete and give me control of the window back.
That is INEXCUSABLE.
I use Windows for the things I have to use Windows for. But I'd hardly say they work perfectly! My Ubuntu box used to be an XP box; when I wiped XP and put Ubuntu on it, I upgraded none of the hardware. Ubuntu runs a LOT faster than XP EVER did--including many identical pieces of software such as FireFox.
When XP is unable to use all your system resources (>= 4GB RAM) it's time to turn to tweaked, customized for efficiency vista. The standard settings won't do, your PC will run slower (even with 8GB RAM and whatever the CPU is) than on XP.
I don't know what people keep bitching about. I've reinstalled a lot of my old applications from my XP machine and they work just fine. Well actually they work better but that's because this computer is far superior to my old one.
i play crysis like 2 hours a day, sometimes more, sometimes less, but vista crashes atleast 2 times everyday, im sick of it. my 3 years with xp was flawless.
lol, windows Vista. I work for a software company. They spend a lot of development time to make work our programs with windows Vista and it turns out nobody intends to switch to Vista ever!
IDK if you were acting or not but i just wanna say Vista crashed once for me... the first time i got it -.- but with the updates and stuff now its running fast and i have never encountered a problem in a whole ONE YEAR!!!

vista suck, may look good and ask you every time you want to do something for your permission, but if you want quality of performance, XP tops vista...
Well said peter. Windows vista seem to me more reliable than the other versions. But it's just something new. When the xp came up for first time everyone was upside down. People were always moaning how bad were the vista... after 2 years it was the favorite operating system of the planet. It's gonna be the same with the vista. The only bad thing is it wastes a lot of memory.
Maybe yes, I am not sure... but at least when I try to compare the vista with the xp i'd say that I prefer the vista. I feel sorry for the people who find them so bad. It's a good operating system but mac is superior (for me)
if you like 'PREEEETY' Dessssktops(yes lisp) and other SSSSecurity features which require human manipulation, go for vista!!! yayyyy! fuck. if you like performance, compatibility and a pleasurable experience. go xp pro. gayyyyyyyyssssss love vista. its so fabulousssss.
I'm talking about how stable Windows XP is, and it blue-screens in the background, taking me by surprise. Just as Pirillo did with Vista, playing off the point that, hey, XP crashes, too.
and his was an april fools joke while you posted this is nov. and made no sense what so ever not to mention your defending the operating system he supports and WASNT talking about. Perhaps it may have worked if you did vista. But no it wouldn't have. GIVE UP it sucked
Look, YOU are the only one with a problem here. You didn't get that it's a joke, and now instead of admitting your mistake, you have to make up excuses and try to make it someone else's issue, like a vain, immature, self-important egomaniac with low self esteem.
Get over yourself. Everyone else here knows it's a joke. Don't spoil their appreciation of it.
There just computer's!!!!, everybody lets just say all operating systems have they're ups and downs, I think all operating systems are great, just end the feud over some computers!!!, people don't realize that they're wasting half of they're life uploading videos like these about operating systems, or anything at that!, don't do that, just enjoy life, becuase it is short!!!, that's all I gotta say!,btw, please no bad replyments becuase its the truth of what I am telling you!!
I feel bad for you you got the Blue Screen of Death i'm running windows's xp right know so windows's vista might not be very good right now as we go on vista will get better
Vista OS is the wave of the Future we gotta move on soon once windows xp get's very old Windows's Vista will be the best os it has only been released for a few months give Microsoft a break they're doing the best they can to make windows vista compatible with your Drivers and software
Yep, that's the one! I set it to go off after one minute and I could tell in my camera's LCD screen when it went off. I just had to keep talking until then.

XP was as bad as Vista when XP first came out, Vista just needs to improve.
Terrum 3 years ago
It took until Service Pack 2 for XP to be worth the CD it was stamped on.
shanedk 3 years ago
Yea vista still has more instability than XP when it was first out.
Terrum 3 years ago
THERE'S NOTHEN WRONG WITH WINDOWS VISTA AT ALL!!!!!!
I have been running Windows Vista Home Premium on my HP Media Center PC for 4 months now and it workes FINE! :D
peter08xxx 3 years ago
Well said peter. Windows vista seem to me more reliable than the other versions. But it's just something new. When the xp came up for first time everyone was upside down. People were always moaning how bad were the vista... after 2 years it was the favorite operating system of the planet. It's gonna be the same with the vista. The only bad thing is it wastes a lot of memory.
pretieststar 3 years ago
It really only happened after Microsoft released Service Pack 2.
shanedk 3 years ago
Maybe yes, I am not sure... but at least when I try to compare the vista with the xp i'd say that I prefer the vista. I feel sorry for the people who find them so bad. It's a good operating system but mac is superior (for me)
pretieststar 3 years ago
if you like 'PREEEETY' Dessssktops(yes lisp) and other SSSSecurity features which require human manipulation, go for vista!!! yayyyy! fuck. if you like performance, compatibility and a pleasurable experience. go xp pro. gayyyyyyyyssssss love vista. its so fabulousssss.

shanedk 3 years ago

theebayk1d 3 years ago
I'm talking about how stable Windows XP is, and it blue-screens in the background, taking me by surprise. Just as Pirillo did with Vista, playing off the point that, hey, XP crashes, too.
You didn't get that, and you call ME retarded?
shanedk 3 years ago
and his was an april fools joke while you posted this is nov. and made no sense what so ever not to mention your defending the operating system he supports and WASNT talking about. Perhaps it may have worked if you did vista. But no it wouldn't have. GIVE UP it sucked
theebayk1d 3 years ago
His video was added on November 10, 2007.

shanedk 3 years ago

theebayk1d 3 years ago
Explain how 10 November follows or in any way has ANYTHING to do with April Fools.
shanedk 3 years ago
perhaps you should watch his april fools videos and learn how to figure it out on your own instead of depending on some1 else
theebayk1d 3 years ago
Look, YOU are the only one with a problem here. You didn't get that it's a joke, and now instead of admitting your mistake, you have to make up excuses and try to make it someone else's issue, like a vain, immature, self-important egomaniac with low self esteem.
Get over yourself. Everyone else here knows it's a joke. Don't spoil their appreciation of it.
shanedk 3 years ago
uh huh. *looks at comments*
not the only one
no mistake here my mistake was watching your video and wasting my time reply to you
*looks for me making it someone else's issue*
nope clearly yours
If you want to continue to spam your own page and be an idiot feel free but I have given up on your who clearly has no sense at all.

Vista runs fine on the right hardware, with the right software. I've never had issues.
Although Vista should have less resource hungry on lower-end hardware. That is where MS screwed up.

Dslitelover987 3 years ago
Vista's been out over a year. They've even got a service pack out already.
shanedk 3 years ago
Why do they keep making a new OS anyway?
I hate it!
Once you have the new one, THEY MAKE ANOTHER ONE!

I have to ask if you're running the Sysinternals BSOD screen saver in that video.
(great free download from MS, prank your friends!)
We've got a few laptops running around with Vista on them at work, and I've heard nothing but bad from the users who have them.
ReeseTora 3 years ago
Yep, that's the one! I set it to go off after one minute and I could tell in my camera's LCD screen when it went off. I just had to keep talking until then.
