The looper on this pedal is rather limited. You can reverse the loop, but it's really a 'no frills' looper otherwise.
It's similar to the Boss "Sound-on-Sound" looping concept, for reference. You can record something, and then overdub on top of that however many times you want... but that's really it.
Once you switch to another preset though, your loop is gone, so there aren't any in-loop delay possibilities with this one.
Does anyone here know whether or not the Timefactor have an option to produce a sound similar to the fifth preset shown in this video (shimmering reverse thing)?
I see. I did want the timefactor because of the midi control (and great sound), but this reverse option is mind blowing. sounds like an organ from the sixties!
I labored over the Superdelay vs. Timefactor question for a few weeks as well.... and finally bought a Superdelay. Loved it, but had a few questions, so 3 months later, I unloaded it in a favor of Timefactor.
3 months after that, I ditched the TF and bought another Superdelay. And I've had that ever since. Very happy.
sorry to bother you again, but can can you loop the presets in this unit..cause i really like the tone and effects of this unit and it would be great if u can put it in a loop..thanks
hi...how does it compare to eventide timefactor? have you tried this one with the fuzz? i'v watched ur review on musket and i also have that pedal, do you think they will sound good together? thanks
I've had both and the Super Delay, while a bit more limited, is just easier to than the Timefactor IMO. I think it sounds a bit warmer and more natural too, but know that in a blind test, I actually preferred a recording of the Timefactor's modulated delay (probably because you can get a deeper, more resonant modulation w/ the advanced controls on the TF). Both are good, but I prefer this one. A lot of that is feature based though.
And I've played it with the Musket - sounds wonderful.
thanks for the reply...i just found out that empress are working to fix some problems regarding to loop function..i hope it will be available soon..it would be awesome if you can manipulate the loop with this unit..
The update isn't adding any functionality to the looper mode. Right now, when the looper loops, it fades out and fades back in. This is a necessity to some extent. What we're trying to do is make the fades shorter so they're less noticeable.
Get your knobs set how you like and then press the small black button and the "preset" button simultaneously. If you're tweaking a preset you've already got saved and want to save your tweaked version elsewhere, simply tap the "preset" button until you're in the slot you want and then press the black button and the "preset" switch simultaneously.
If that isn't clear, check out the Empress channel and watch the Super Delay intro vid. About 1:05 should do it.
Dude, I know I suck major ass on guitar, but this is the sexiest thing ever. If I had 450, i'd get it. It has the best effects I've ever seen. It reminds me of some of the effects on "Everyday Shooter". Brilliant game with brilliant music that has lots of awesome guitar effects.
The "it costs more so it's obviously better" rationale is a bit trite, but it's also pretty accurate in this case. The Super Delay costs twice what the DD-20 does, and for that amount you really are getting a lot more. Now, I'm not saying the DD-20 is a bad delay -- because it's not -- but the Super Delay is on a completely different plane. Awesome features, great tone ... and that's just the beginning. The SD isn't perfect, but it's about as close as I've found to it..... 13 delay pedals later.
Uh.... the speaker on my Sony Handycam? LOL!! Not the best setup, but it works. Anyway, I had the same dilemma, but went for the Superdelay because of its footprint and the fact it had features that the Timefactor doesn't. Both are good pedals, but this one is the winner for me. I mean, this demo was pretty basic -- just the main modes -- but the reverse, rhythm, auto-delay & misc. modes are really nice. Check out the Empress channel for more vids info.
shit, that skreddy mayo sounds SICK. especially since Oranges are so picky with dirt pedals (including my Rocker 30). i want one now!

The singer of my band uses this for crazy fucked up things, but I like it...
It kinda reminds me at Whole Lotta Love 1:58 for Robert Plant's voice of Led Zeppelin at Madison Square 1973 from the movie The Song Remains The Same.

i'm trying to wrap my head around the loop part at the end.
that is wild.
"You CANNOT however, use any other presets in the loop mode."
Can you record a loop......have it going, and play through the pedal delaying and frolicking as you go ?
la la la laaaaaaaaa.......

No. You cannot.

Hope that makes sense.

At around 6:40 did you add any other effect?
Excellent demo, by the way!

@ 6:34 I added the Skreddy Mayo to it.
Thanks!

Very good video... I think you just persuaded me into buying this monster pedal. I have a question for you:
If i were to use an expression pedal, which knobs can it control?
ChristofferGroen 2 years ago
Cool. :D
And the expression out can control feedback & mix.

great demo!
Does anyone here know whether or not the Timefactor have an option to produce a sound similar to the fifth preset shown in this video (shimmering reverse thing)?

No. The Timefactor doesn't offer anything like that.

I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking.....
But you CAN save the loop mode as a preset.
You CANNOT however, use any other presets in the loop mode. It features no delay -- just 12 seconds of straight, no frills looping.

thanks..really appreciate it... one more about the loop, can you use other effect featured on the empress and record it on a loop?
bigskymind81 2 years ago
No. In loop mode, it's only a looper. No other delay FX are available in that mode. One of few drawbacks.

great demo and pedal!

Saving presets is really simple.

Nope -- my LP Studio is still loaded w/ the stock pups.

There is no comparison. At all. Super Delay > DD-20

"There is no comparison" any brief example/ explanation?
