Presumably the problem is down to poor seals around the bag chamber, possibly exagerated as a result of the shape of the lid? I seem to remember something about the curved shape of the lid on the dust compartment on Hoover's 'The One' and realising how distortion here would cause air leaks?!
Interessting to read, that you are not satisfied with this cleaner. I had a Freemotion bagged version. I brought it back to the shop after only 2 days....
@Eluxfan71 I've heard from two friends who had exactly the same issue as I did with the Freemotion - I've now returned this cleaner for a full refund! It's a shame, because there are things about it I like, but the build-quality just isn't there. I thought the bagged one might be a little better - what didn't you like about yours?
@vintagehoover The problem was the hose and the nozzle. The nozzle is not suitable for hard floor, especially for wood floors, it scratches on the ground. Later models in Switzerland had a Wessel nozzle (similar to Miele). I suppose, they had to many complains about it. The hose was starting to brake down in one end (it is made to cheap).
@Eluxfan71 I had the same problem with the hose with a Freemotion I owned previously - it tore right across at the wand-handle end. Useless!
Hoover are currently making a version of this cleaner called the 'Silent Energy' which uses the Wessel nozzle, and it's rated much higher in consumer testing than the Freemotion. However, I'd still be very concerned about reliability, because all the parts are so cheaply made...
@vintagehoover I saw the "silent Energy" in shops, but I haven't checked if the hose is better now. Hoover was once a great brand with very good cleaner, but today I wouldn't buy one. The cylinders looks very cheap. I never saw an upright in Switzerland (not popular here), maybe this models are better
@hoovcand Hi Alex, I did see those, but I was hoping to find them cheaper... £165 is waaaaaay more than these are worth. For that money, you can get far better quality and warranty coverage from other brands.
Mine made a similar noise so I sold it. The bagged versions are far better. The front and side clean nozzle is very poor at pick up, especially pet hair. The bagged Hoover TSE0100 Silent Energy has just been awarded a Which? best buy, the first best buy Hoover has had in a long time. Looks like it still has the same hose as the Freemotion.
@ibaisaic I think I'll be returning this one. I wanted the bagged version anyway, but they seem extremely hard to find anywhere... i don't recall actually ever seeing one on sale!
I like the overall design of the Front and Side Clean nozzle, but it needs a lint-picker in front of the suction channel as well as behind it. I guess they wanted to keep the leading edge as thin as possible.
I noticed Which? liked the Silent Energy... maybe I should just get one of those!
