I've been using henna for years and it stays in your hair longer than any other product. The ends of my hair have had henna on them for 5 years and you can NOT get it off. I just re-henna as the hair grows - and it helps your hair grow too! Mine went from about 3 inches long to below my bra strap in 4 years.
@Jacquelyn104 yep! it does bind more permanently 2 hair than skin. the initial reddish one will fsde w/time & washes if u don't recolor... but apparently it is permanent tho. lol
@ModischFrame henna dye molecules attach to the protein that makes up ur hair.... so it is a permeable coating...similarly to how it attaches to skin cells. it attaches to hair. the only way it REALLY fades is the loss of the stained protein. so on skin, when u shed your skin cells.. in hair as regular hair life cycles go on and those hairs are eventually shed or snapped off by rough treatment, and ALSO in normal hair wear and tear there is also an amount of protein that is normally lost...
@ModischFrame the loss of THAT protein with the dye molecules attached can contribute to henna dye disappearing... this is evident by the general difference in diameter and strength of hair at the ends and by the roots... if u know wut i mean...
@ModischFrame so in short.... the dye should be considered permenant, its just that the cells and proteins that the dye molecules attach to are not... :D

i have the same texture as u..how do u keep ur hair moisturized and not so "dry" looking!! As always ur hair is beautiful :)
naturalbeauty02 2 years ago
i co-wash pretty often... it is my key to well-moisturized hair. of course you have to balance it out with protein here and there...
