Anna Netrebko has admirers and some that critique her. That is to be expected. But it cannot be dnied tghat sh has a beautiful voice and at this time sheis at he peak of her career. Her Anna Bolena this weekend at the Met shows this. There will always be roles that are better for some voices and other roles for oher voices. Let's enjoy the beauty of each one.
really, when she sings Lucia, Violetta, Carmen, Norma she sounds the same all the time!!!! Does not anyone think there should (vocally) be a difference between all these characters?...One is an English aristocrat lady, one a courtesan, one a Gipsy, and one a Druid priestess...Why does Netrebko sound EXACTLY the same all the time?...Listen to Callas and you'll understand!!!!
@ovidiubobaila you obviously have no clue man. Just because Callas RUINED her voice by trying to sound like a bariton at one time and like a lyric coloratura at another, doesn't mean that the rest of the world should become as crazy.
Vocally, this is perfect for AN. The fuller lyric singing shows her voice at its best, even more than more florid bel canto roles. She reminds me of Freni at her peak. The only caveat is that she is so beautiful that it is hard to imagine why Don Jose would dump her for Carmen (Carmen would REALLY have to be hot stuff!)
Who is her Carmen in this performance?

@ovidiubobaila If you are such a specialist in opera music, you should know that she is not a gypsy here, this is Micaela's aria.
