Head on this thing is a beast, it's riding on a Benz chassis. And let's face it nothing ever does well side on and that didn't look all that bad to me compared to others.
the side airbag like pushes the driver the other way, instead of cushioning him... dodges have bad side impact protection... we have a dodge durango with out side airbags, and when we bought it, it didn't even come with optional side protection!!!!
Damn, no big car does good in these side impacts. The Crown Vic also didn't do good without the side airbags. Looks to me like side airbags are going to be standard in the future just like seat belts and front airbags became.
Well, obviously. Pretty sure Toyota doesn't make planes or bikes or anything. But whatever. I was just talking about how most vehicles are doing a lot better with the side airbags and how that's probably going to lead to a federal regulation making them standard later on. Like they did with airbags.
Honestly, without side curtain airbags, no car will perform extremely well in this test.

no seat mounted airbag. that's pretty much all this car needs ontop of the curtain side airbag to get an acceptable rating.
SteelCity1981 2 years ago
steelcity, the iihs retested it with side curtain and front torso airbags and it got a marginal rating
still very poor

I thought the 300c had a 5 star rating from EuroNCAP. Perhaps Austria does a better job of making the 300c than Canada.
sk8rgeoff 3 years ago
ummm that part of the rear side airbag where the rear passanger hits its head roof like was too low. the dummy hit it.
