  • (sigh) i wish i could get this game with the atari 5200 but only one problem... the controller *cries fiercly*

  • I'd love to see CGR do some Atari Jaguar reviews! Would be awesome to see Mark's take on "Attack of the Mutant Penguins"!

  • Wow, the sound effects blow. We kinda expect that on Atari 2600 and 7800 games, but the 5200 sound isn't always as terrible. Meh.

  • i wish the 2600 was still in production. Call of duty black ops for the atari 2600

  • @ransman413 There's still people making home brew games for the 2600 and some of them are in cartridge form but you would have to order them online. Have you ever heard of Halo 2600? It's actually a really awesome game. You should google it if you are interested.

Side note: I really like what Mark said... "Well every game actually ends the same way with your destruction, the difference is how many points you have before you go out like a bitch" LOL

  • Amazing.

Twenty-plus years later and this old brick of a console still functions. Then again, I'm not surprised. My brother's Sega Genesis is still alive and kicking (thanks to the magic of duct tape, rubber bands, and some paper clips) after nineteen years.

    Long live Galaxian!!

  • Wow you have a Orginal floppy

  • Hey, you finally reviewd one of these claw machines.

  • Biffs gaming videos are useless, classic game room rules

(do not see biffsgameingvideos for atari reviews or any other reviews)

  • this must have blown peoples' minds when they first saw this, "oh this is just space invaders OH GOD THEY'RE SWOOPING TO GET ME!"

  • DOES ANYONE KNOWS the name of the song in the background? I've asked the author directly, his very clever answer "Thanks for the interest....it's not commercial music". Tunatic can't find it. It's the only reason why I klick trough the videos - to hear that song.

  • Wow, the sound on this port is lousy. Doesn't sound anything like the elegant sound effects on the arcade Galaxian.

Unusual, since the 5200 usually had decent sound (unlike the 2600 and 7800)!

  • Sadly, Galaxian seems to be overshadowed by Galaga.

  • @KedViper Yeah. Gorf was cool too.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • it looks great from a system in the 80's

  • For Christ sake, what is the intro's music?

  • @molinskypuc probably from a music library. usually they have several versiona nd you have to pay for it. he probably doesn't even know.

  • the beginning music of cgrhd gets in my head.... OUT!

  • I share your pain. Still, I've had much worse things stuch in my head...

  • At least it's not the Duck Tales theme.

  • I love that electronic music at the beginning of these games!

  • It's called an old game console

  • I absolutely HATE those machines with the claw and the stuffed animals.

  • That 5200 cartridge design is idiotic: the game is clearly about aliens and spaceships, not weird angelic figures. Madness!

  • I like the nes version most... but awesome video :) 5S

  • There is a version of GALAXIAN for GameCube

  • My Dad used to play this on the arcade

  • The reverb touch on this intro was just awesome. Love all your vid's man, keep it up.

    CGR rocks!!!

  • So my question is, when are you gonna turn your intro theme into a ringtone???

    I would get it 100%!!

And im sure alot of people would too, and if not, then they need not to buy it!

  • Oh, an even longer version of the intro music.

Let us hear the rest! ;)

  • It sounds like Falco or some 80s pop music.

  • @natal1711 probably canned music from a library.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • I own this game !!!!!!

  • Glad you won at it! Not many do!:)

  • I love the original opening music, personally I think you should start using it again for the opening of more reviews. Really liked the (Arcade Remix), pretty sweet. Great review.

  • High def review of Atari 5200 games? - you guys are the flippin best!

  • @hurtz2k Exactly. These are NOT in high def. Saying they are in HD is a joke, cause they are not.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • @BiffsGamingVideos maybe it doesnt always mean high definition...iv neevr actually seen it been stated that i can remember as meaning that. you may assume it does....but that doesnt make it true

  • thx for video , i like galaxian

  • thanks for the review! I went out and got this game pretty much for free. Since I always go to my local fleamarket and buy classic games. Also got a Sega Saturn today and 3 games and an original Gameboy with a game all for 50 bucks. YES!!!!!

  • kamikaze!

  • I playd this and galaga on NES

    is a cool game

    smoke weed every day

  • nice music sounds very 80's

  • do these games ever end

  • I don't think so good question

  • kill screens. Where the Programming ends.

  • I love Galaxian, I kinda like it better than Galaga actually. Probably because I'm better at Galaxian!

  • bow chicka wow wow

  • wtf is this shit

  • Could we have an MP3 of the CGR theme? A long version too. It'd be awesome whilst doing my coursework.

  • Yeah, I'd love to have it as well. I think it is "stock music" though, so I don't think CGR can actually legally provide a mp3 of it, since the show is produced by an actual company, it'll be too risky. Although, I really do wish I could listen to the whole theme. Heck, I once spent hours trying to piece together a long theme from it from various episodes of CGR before!

  • Ah well. Can't always get what you want. But it's awesome to have the longest version of it in this review.

  • Cool.

  • You went an entire atari 5200 review without mentioning the controller! :0

  • That's because it's actually not bad for this game.

  • claw machines ftw

  • I LOVE THE SONG!

  • For a moment there, I thought you were going to make a statement about the sorry state of our 5200 cables, and let the music loop for 4 minutes while you adjusted them. That you would have been incredibly awesome! :)

  • NIce. Is it the 5200 that

    works with a paddle controller?

  • @Retrogamer71 5200 doe snot have a paddle (however I have a protitype and it's up on my channel for a few days)

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • Europe kicks ass

  • yup. the band and the continent.

  • @80sRockRocks Damn Straight.

  • just waiting for that review on half life 2....

  • Why does everyone ask for that? Seriously, the games been out for years and everyone knows it's good. There really isn't a reason to review it.

  • @LCDscreen2521 Some people may not have seen this game. I reviewed Sega Pico, Virtual boy and 35 pong systems. How many of those have you seen?

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • @BiffsGamingVideos

Not a whole lot, actually. But the difference between Pico games and Half-Life 2 is that people actually gave a shit about Half-Life 2. Like I said a few months ago, everybody knows the game's good. No need to review it.

  • @Millertheman How is that a classic game????

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • This was one of my first games ever played, about 12 years ago and I absolutely loved it. I still love it. It's great!! Good review!

    Hf

    Putnik

  • Namco from this to Tekken. They sure have come a long way. Interesting to learn when comparing cartridges that the 5200 came out before the 2600 version. I always thought the 2600 console came out before the 5200 console.

  • This game is a lot like Galaga

  • he said it was a folowup to galaga, so basically it should look thesame

  • my galaga rom seems to be riverraid

    WTF

    >:{

  • can anyone tell me, what the music is on 00:10 ?

  • Classic game room theme

  • the music is nice

  • REVIEW THE CLAW/UFO machines!!!!

  • if you like GALAXIAN then you play GALAXIAN3

    the arcade game ..

  • Comment removed

  • Are those screen abnormalities from your Colecovision?

  • Nice new music!!

  • actually its a mix of the 2 intros he had

  • galaga > galaxian

  • I thinks you are right

  • Holy crap, the improved intro song is amazing.

  • has anyonen here beat thunder force 4? how do u defeat the spider guy at the end?

  • Yeah, what is the opening song called??

  • I always ask that and theres never a response with the answer :(, if you get commented it could you pass it to me please :)

  • Galaxian is not one of my favorite games, but it is a decent translation on the 5200.

  • what is your opening song called

  • The enemy mother ships don't try to steal mark's ship. Is this because of a mode setting for the game or was it never part of this port?

  • I think you may be confusing this with Galaga.

  • @WhiteDawn Wrong game. That's galaga a sequal.

(See my channel for many Atari reviews)

  • can you review earthbound for the super nes plz.

  • It seems like he doesn't ever review RPG's.

    Well, except for Fallout 3.

  • OOOOH!!!!!

  • he says he doesnt like long games

  • He says he likes them, only that they're too time consuming. See his Blue Dragon Plus review for DS

  • Nice change up on the ending.

  • Hmm I played this on the Game Boy (Galaga too).

  • dat intro is class:)

  • nice intro! classic

  • It's like every day you're getting closer to reviewing Darwin 4081...

  • Yeah! the SEGA version of Darwin 4081 would be sweet.. then onto Dangerous Seed maybe.

  • Best theme tune ever!

  • Isn't this just a Galaga remake?

  • Galaga is the sequel to this.

  • Ah I see.

  • thats what i tought, looks just like it......except crappier

  • Hey you 5200 switchbox is screwed up, get a new one that will get you a clearer picture every time

  • I've got both versions of Galaxian; unfortunately, I don't have an Atari 5200 to play that version of Galaxian. Oh well, thank god for the 2600!

  • what song do you use for the intro's anyway?

  • Comment removed

  • He spent the first several minutes explaining what it was, are you serious?

  • why is the quality 4 ur atari 5200 reviews always so poor? (no offence)

  • maybe with a crappy early 90's TV with a just new av port and still the atari input port (i dunno what its called)

  • Graphics are really nice actually! Certainly wouldn't expect this from 1982!

  • YOu should review "The Neverhood"

    if you havnt already.

  • Oh how I missed the full CGR intro song! Great remix!

  • The retro gaming community if lucky to have a talented video guy on its side. I'm sure wrangling some of these systems into a recording device is a bitch. Thanks!

  • Sounds like the 5200's sound makes this almost the better version, but the hardware sure seems worn out. I had the 2600 version, it's pretty fun...I just really like the sound of this one.

  • what music is that i never heard it before

  • I love the CGR theme song remix thing you did. Honestly, I liked the longer theme song you used to use in the past.

  • You have the best opening music EVER!!!!

    Great review as per usual

  • Great review. But please!! I need a copy of the Classic Game Room Theme!! Help us out.

  • me too

  • great!

  • Claw machines!!!

  • One of my favorite games ever!

  • cool

  • classicgame room is da mother fudging rules!

  • Sweet

  • Awesome!
