A busa is just for straight lines, want a good bike for the turns get a 1000 or a 600. I race an RVF 400 and at practise days I have owned many Busa's round many tracks. They can't turn for shit. Too heavy.

I have a turbo Busa. This machine is crazy. Name another sport bike that the stock rods can handle 325hp and and pistons that can handle over 400hp. And the crank and block well over 700hp. When I first built the turbo busa it was stock motor pushing 322hp for a long time. Nothing changed but the tune. And over 300hp on the street is awesome best thing since 1999.
The Busa and ZX-14 are pretty close,so much it's tough to tell,I own both,on an different note,putting a sidecar on a sportbike is a moronic idea at best,it's like hitching a trailer to a Ferrari so you can take more people along for the ride lol
You BMW riders let me ask you a question ?? The top speed test that was done on these bikes the s1000rr-zx-14-busa. The BMW had a top speed of what 186mph ? Now what did suz & kaw have to do in 2001. Restrict the speed on the busa & zx-12 to 185. So is the BMW really the king of top speed ???? 2000 busa and it want shut down at 186mph
@WoodleyEnterprises yeah because theyre doing new production bikes test. hard to say exactly what the top speeds are if all of them are unrestricted.... i do know weight of the rider is a big consideration, along with aerodynamics, but the BMW makes the same/slightly less (~160hp) stock than the busa and 14 stock, but has less torque only to re-up it again with far less weight. 2000 busa makes 140hp 142hp best stock.
a 1000cc Supersports bike will out accelerate a Hyper bike atleast upto 150mph.. then again it depends if you are a fatty... i out accelerated a busa on my 750 well upto 130ish.. then again the guy weighed more than the bike by the looks of it... anyways a 1000cc ss will start to lose aerodynamics at 150-160mph the busa will keep on accelerating.. cant compare a 1000cc ss to a fast cruiser ;)
At 75 mph sat bolt upright these things become as light as a feather - the wind takes all of the weight off your wrists and its like riding a 125 cc. At 100 mph (on the tank) everything goes quiet and, with a small twist of the throttle the speedo needle moves round as fast as the tacho and everything is silent. You have to try one....don't you ?....
Fact - Hayabusa will hold the title for the fastest top speed of any production bike sold in the usa. The reason is after a couple of years of production of the hayabusa a standard was put in place. A top speed of 300kph or 189.6 mph on any motorcycle sold in the usa. So yes they are faster accelerating motorcycles today it just took bmw 12 years to find it.

@pakistansportslk Well I hate to break it to you but the bimmers are not made by a guy in his garage either. How does being mass produced have anything to do with the fact that the bimmer is a better bike than the busa anyways? It beats the busa in every performance category, and is in the same price range as well. Unless you are buying the busa for its cruiser capabilities being a physically bigger bike with a more upright riding position, it is a no brainer which bike to buy. BMW all the way.

I've own a 06 zx10r, 04 R1 and now a 06 gsxr750 and im finally looking around to get a busa. I used to hate them but i got a chance to ride one yesterday and it's actualy a pretty dam practical machine. Great in town, awesome on the freeway and i live in SC so theres nothing but open long back roads around here.

People race Busas all the time. I take my Hayabusa to the track almost monthly. The Hayabusa was certainly made for the track. Where else can you go 200mph? It corners very well. It is a sportbike, just a different type.
I own one of the most agile bikes of all time, a Speed Triple. And a Hayabusa. The difference in agility between two sport bikes versus other classes of bikes is just laughable.

@leeroy317 I don't really think the hayabusa is better than the r1 unless it is turbo charged. On the track the r1 wins hands down. on the highway the busa wins because of better top end but the r1 will get to 160 mph probably just as fast if not faster.

all i know is i had a 95 gsxr1100 geared-head ported- micron pipe and bigger carbs and my brother got on the 1100 andi got on the 02 busa he said see if you can keep up when the light turned green well i didn't see him again till i let off.we swapped he rode it for 2 miles got off and said g-d damn that bike is fast .

chipped up hayabusa with lowered center of grav is the fastest street legal bike customizable, consistently faster than the CBR, the ZX 14 and the Ninja, its acceleration/top speed maintenance coefficient is higher on average. Simply put Hayabusa will burn other suzuki and kawasaki bikes period.

True. I have an '06 Busa and I know from experience that the squids just don't have any idea of how much power it has. Yes, a 600cc bike is better on the track...but I don't ride on the track. And every bike I've ever come up against on the freeway has been left far, far behind me. I even use a GoPro cam to film it.

r6s don't do circles around anything. When you look at track laptimes, it's much more complex than "smaller bike = corners faster". Not necessarily. For example, Hayabusas can brake much harder than any 600, so I can brake later, and overtake smaller bikes at almost every corner entry. And at corner exit...let's not even discuss that.
Plenty of people like going fast and/or like riding scary rides like rollercoasters. Riding the Busa, is like spending the day at Disney World, riding all the fun rides. You never get tired of it.
@brianlp ha that's funny that you make that comparison because I absolutely hate roller coasters but going 160 mph on a 600cc (first bike) is amazing. It's the greatest feeling in the world. The need for speed is a wonderful thing.
i have a 07 i have had the needle pinned in stock form and this is no bs im 50 yrs old and have been riding for 35yrs.... 1 month ago i added a 60 shot of nos everything done right timeed to come at 7500rpm if u blink the needle is pinned i need a higher speedo

I always thought the hayabusa was the absolute ugliest bike on the market....and I still think so. I think my r6 is 20x better looking.....not as fast obviously but for a bike that I only ride on the street its fast as fuck....for the track or drag racing the busa is probably the best.

How does being mass produced have anything to do with the fact that the bimmer is a better bike than the busa anyways? It beats the busa in every performance category, and is in the same price range as well. Unless you are buying the busa for its cruiser capabilities being a physically bigger bike with a more upright riding position, it is a no brainer which bike to buy. BMW all the way.

I've own a 06 zx10r, 04 R1 and now a 06 gsxr750 and im finally looking around to get a busa. I used to hate them but i got a chance to ride one yesterday and it's actualy a pretty dam practical machine. Great in town, awesome on the freeway and i live in SC so theres nothing but open long back roads around here.

People race Busas all the time. I take my Hayabusa to the track almost monthly. The Hayabusa was certainly made for the track. Where else can you go 200mph? It corners very well. It is a sportbike, just a different type.
I own one of the most agile bikes of all time, a Speed Triple. And a Hayabusa. The difference in agility between two sport bikes versus other classes of bikes is just laughable.

Everything is a question os taste, I ride a busa my self and I know that its not made for race tracs, that's why there are a few catagories of motorcycle. Some riders like bikes that accelerate and are comfortable like the busa, and some like more sport bikes. @leeroy317 I don't really think the hayabusa is better than the r1 unless it is turbo charged. On the track the r1 wins hands down. on the highway the busa wins because of better top end but the r1 will get to 160 mph probably just as fast if not faster.

all i know is i had a 95 gsxr1100 geared-head ported- micron pipe and bigger carbs and my brother got on the 1100 andi got on the 02 busa he said see if you can keep up when the light turned green well i didn't see him again till i let off.we swapped he rode it for 2 miles got off and said g-d damn that bike is fast .

Every bike night all you have to do is look at people's rear tire to know who really rides, and who just shit talks. The new BMW is faster stock than the busa, is only a 1000cc bike, can corner like it is on rails, and it weight a lot less so the busa would be smoked! I ride a modded 1000 CBR and I can hang with busas in the straights, and the corners they fade behind very quickly. They are over ratted!

chipped up hayabusa with lowered center of grav is the fastest street legal bike customizable, consistently faster than the CBR, the ZX 14 and the Ninja, its acceleration/top speed maintenance coefficient is higher on average. Simply put Hayabusa will burn other suzuki and kawasaki bikes period.

The Busa, is not a racetrack bike. Plus, how could a bike that is 100+ lbs heavier then an R6, be as nimble on the track???
A Ferrari or Lambo, is very fast, but it can't accelerate or out-corner an F1 car. A R6, GSXR, or Kawi, was designed for the track, the Busa wasn't.

True. I have an '06 Busa and I know from experience that the squids just don't have any idea of how much power it has. Yes, a 600cc bike is better on the track...but I don't ride on the track. And every bike I've ever come up against on the freeway has been left far, far behind me. I even use a GoPro cam to film it.

Actually, dickhead, most of my riding is done in Sydney's Royal National Park, which has PLENTY of twisty bits. I ride with a lot of guys on 600-1000cc bikes and I ride faster than most of them. I'd bet that you couldn't ride a Busa as quickly as I can, so STFU you worthless squid. r6s don't do circles around anything. When you look at track laptimes, it's much more complex than "smaller bike = corners faster". Not necessarily. For example, Hayabusas can brake much harder than any 600, so I can brake later, and overtake smaller bikes at almost every corner entry. And at corner exit...let's not even discuss that.

I always thought the hayabusa was the absolute ugliest bike on the market....and I still think so. I think my r6 is 20x better looking.....not as fast obviously but for a bike that I only ride on the street its fast as fuck....for the track or drag racing the busa is probably the best.
