  • Can I ask where you got the Confederate flag and the wooden pole you are holding from? I'm trying to collect my favorite flags that represent my ancestry and faith and I was curious where you have gotten your material from.

    Thanks.

  • Great video!

  • Cheers Mate

  • It's funny that Scotland barely recognizes St Andrews day. Nothing happens.

  • @bullettoothburrows I'm a Southerner that moved permanently to Scotland, and I was appalled to find that to be the case. It's very sad to see the complete, total disregard for what it's supposed to be the national holiday, when generic commercialized holidays receive more attention than they should. I still celebrate it though.

Thanks for noticing the holiday, Michael. I missed this video, but glad I found it while browsing through your channel. Very nice.

  • @MSfeller When you say Southerner, do mean your English or Southern American?

Yeah, Scotland is a very cynical country, and to come form America (if you do) where patriotism is so blatant and obvious it must be quite a shock. Jingoism doesn't work well in Scotland. We're are a country that had lost most of it's identity and our culture and history has been quite intensely anglicized.

  • @bullettoothburrows I mean Mississippian, so yeah, American. I think it's stupid for English people to call themselves "Southerners" while in Scotland. A Southerner, to me here, would be a Lowlander, as England is a different country.

You're very right. I'm probably the only guy that displays a Saltire in my neighborhood. It baffles me to have Scots asking me things such as "why did you leave the US for this shit?" - as if Scotland were trash or something. I LOVE Scotland!

  • @MSfeller There's a duality to Scottish identity. We're either brave heroes who lost our battle due to, as Burns would have said, being bought and sold for English gold. Or we're, to quote Trainspotting, the most servile pathetic trash ever to be shat out into civilization.

Scotland doesn't really know who it is. Past football patriotism (idiotic bullshit) most Scot's wouldn't unite behind anything too nationalistic, which fundamentally is a good thing.

  • @bullettoothburrows If the Scots fail to come together and stand up for themselves they will simply be replaced in their own land by Third World immigrants. This is happening across the Western world. They have a choice of survival or elimination.

  • @RedShirtArmy What? I'm Scottish living in the capitol, and that is total madness. Right wing rhetoric doesn't fit in with the inherently left wing consciousness of the Scottish people. Also, 'Third World'? That term i outdated - even though I have no idea of who you mean - that term has been out of date since the fall of the soviet union. I like southern history and the culture, but you sir are misinformed.

  • @bullettoothburrows I agree with that view, I have met both types. There's still some brave patriots around, while others are self-hating Scots. I also agree with football rivalry, as the two greatest football teams here seem to fanatically support an identity other than just Scottish. Football patriotism is indeed useless and has no historical significance, along with no business in politics.

Regardless, I will be voting a big fat YES on the upcoming 2014 referendum.

  • What are you even tryin to accomplish with these vids man? I'm a native South Carolinian also but we couldn't last as an independent nation.

  • @Hellzyeah1990 Why do you say that? Most of the prosperous independent states in the world are small states. As far as SC being an "independent nation," SC is a state. The Southern people are a nation. And the US Empire is visibly crumbling. Surely you can't think the status quo is sustainable or desirable. lol It's an awful system.

  • @RedShirtArmy @bullettoothburrows

    Scotsman here.

Its, next to Samhain and Beltane, one of, if not the, most important national days in Scotland, represents the very flag, oldest unchanged flag in the world, the flag of saint andrews.

Btw red shirt, hope your not a commie heh, happy belated saint andrews day.

    Alba Gu Brath!.

  • @CelticAngloPress Yeah, but fuck all happens.

  • @bullettoothburrows

    Come again?.

  • @CelticAngloPress What's that now?

  • @Hellzyeah1990 We've been hearing that same old tune here, that Scotland wouldn't last as an independent nation. And I'm sure that the American Loyalists have argued the same thing when American desire for independence was also brought up. What modern country hasn't last as an independent nation for what is worth? If anything, the trend seems always to be bigger, empire-like nations falling apart, and then fairer new nations arise, other than other way around. Empires fall.

  • Isn't the Alabama flag St Patrick's Cross?

  • @LordAquila It could be seen that way, as could the Florida flag. Depends on how you look at it. If you're going by colour, then, yes.

  • Bravo!

  • Scotch-Irish here...LOVE, COURAGE

  • Happy Saint Andrew's Day from up North!

  • @carcabe Thanks. Same to you!

  • Just think if the south peacfully seceded into a seperate nation. Slavery would have died out due to cameras and world opinion. Would have been united in time of need like WW1 and 2. Could have been a different story in solving the problems of a nation divided.

  • Happy Saint Andrews Day from Clan Henderson!

  • @writesong Thank you and same to you! My Scottish family is McClain. Deo Vindice!

  • Hope y'all enjoy! Happy St Andrew's Day!
