For christians, science is interpreted from a creationary perspective; for atheists, an evolutionary perspective. You cannot treat an atheistic cosmology as fact, just as you cannot treat a creationary cosmology as fact. This is because science is based on observation. No one has witnessed the creation of the universe.

Awesome, just awesome that man could achieve this - the first men to leave the gravitational pull of the Earth and orbit another celestial body. Truly astounding! You those pictures of the Earth rising from the Moon and you realize just how small the Earth is compared to the whole universe. I would trade anything to be Lovell, Borman, or Anders, even with the space sickness!

It was an immense achievement of its day, set the scene for Apollo 11 and it touched us all individually. Its sad to consider though that their quotation would probably be considered very un P-C if the mission was carried out today.

It doesn't matter if you are athiest, agnostic or thiest, the reading from Genesis doesn't spoil it. The Bible is perhaps the most significant book in all of human history, be it good or bad, and even an athiest can't deny it. Don't look at the reading as a religious thing, just look at it from being a human being
