  • This isn't a bailout for the car companies-it's a payoff for the unions.

  • #1 employer in America=small businesses

#1 overpaid CEOs and workers in America=Detroit3

  • #1 overpaid CEOs and "workers" in America? The banking and insurance "industries", which produce nothing but hot air, bullshit and "commercial paper" and, incidentally, have received about 100 TIMES the amount of bailout "money" given to the auto companies. Auto companies which produce more tangible product than any other industry in the U.S. Funny how the media has turned people who make $8 hr. against auto workers who make $50 hr., not the punk-ass-bitch wall-street types who get $10,000 hr.

  • I refuse to buy a new car until they make something that keeps money in my pocket.

In fact I can't beleive that our current government is still pushing the same O same O.

    Credit, credit, credit more credit.

We don't need credit we need money in our pockets that's not borrowed.

  • My opinion is the fact that inflation drove auto prices up so high, that people simply were unable to afford them. Perhaps if these companies found a way to get back in touch with the general public and lower their prices, then MAYBE, just maybe, people would start buying them again. Until then, they keep trying to prop up these high prices with bailout money and it will continue to get them NOWHERE.

  • In the 60's the Camaro & Mustang were stripped down consumer driven cars that young guys could afford hopefully when the same guy got older they stayed with the brand & bought high end. To see GM,Ford back out of the smaller car market ment those young guys bought CRX's & Toyota's ect, Then watch them sell market driven pigs while Honda & Toyota proved themselfs is a kind of willfull ignorance, the kings were to isolated from there subjects this will always cause revolution.

  • Nobody who ever owned a 60's Camaro or Mustang would buy a CRX. U.S. makers "backed out" of the small car market? Ever heard of the Ford Focus etc.? Most Americans nevertheless chose large SUV's, which were highly profitable; THAT'S why they were produced. If the U.S. makers had dropped the SUV, producing only tiny slope-mobile copies, U.S. buyers would have had no choice but to buy one of the huge SUV's produced by Japan. Many new buyers believe that foreign is better, because they are dumbass.

  • GM is going bankrupt because they cant make cars for s***. Everyone knows Japanese cars kick the s*** out of the sorry ass american cars. That is why theyre going bankrupt. Why the **** are we rewarding failure? What happened to "free markets" and all the other s*** the capitalist pigs always talk about? The auto industry works very closely with big oil, let them to ask big oil to bail them out.

  • well said!

  • my civic rocks the shit! I love honda i get like 400 miles to the tank no joke

  • Bailing out these companies was a mistake, the public sector should have taken them over - restructured them and perhaps then re-capitalized them: now all they are doing is throwing tons of money at corrupt CEOs and expecting them to stop doing overnight what they have been doing for the past thirty years - running their own companies into the ground. It doesn't work that way.

  • sorry RealNews but it's "Auto Bailout for whoM?" news sources should be proof-reading a little better, don't you think? Headline or no headline.

  • its completely different than what went on with the banks. its a loan, not free money

  • Occasionally I wake up in a state of delirium due to dreams where Gore Vidal is whispering Sweet Nothings into my ears!

  • for whom*.

Oh if only grammar was the only thing the media screwed up.

  • Part suppliers are being hit harder than auto makers. Most suppliers have minimum wage workers.

  • I think the problem is pension obligations. Executives who agreed to those obligations and got short-term benefits at the expense of long-term disaster should be put on trial and their posessions traced and confiscated.

  • They have forced us to bail them though it should be ruled unconstitutional by the supreme court --- btw where are they for us???

but we do NOT have to buy CAR TSAR cars!!

A consumer who cares will NOT reward the force used by government and corporations working together with these unconstitutional bailouts!

If you have to buy .. Do not support the bailouts companies.

  • luckily these consumers are indoctrinated to not care, to be "good consumers", self-indulgent, greedy, unconcerned - the american way, and in times of crisis people will want to go back to some good old days (f.e. invoking the constitution ;) ) - fishing in the barrel for the marketing: how about a nice little "chrysler constitution" for you ;)

  • I live in JApan. Beppu to be exact, and a group of bus drivers tried to unionize and go on stirke but it got busted two weeks ago. Now they are facing pay cuts, and the bus drivers are all disgruntled. They do crazy shit like come late(this is not normal in JApan). They driver in the middle of the road, run redlights, and some have tried to drive over the edge of cliffs. In a sense. The US is better off in times of crisis we have better coping skills than the japanese. these drivers scare me.

  • lordblazer: thats hilarious.

  • they should of given the money to some silicon valley EV car company some company with direction and future...!, that would of been money spent a bit better...

  • its all bullshit. GM got bailed out and turned around and closed plants, laid people off, moved jobs overseas. I am sure Ford followed suit. Meanwhile the CEO's have not sacrificed a single penny of their over inflated salaries.

Am I angry? Fuck yes- the bastards fired me last year with 40 of my friends after the suckass UAW agreed to a 2 tier wage system. GM dont NEED help. the people who crippled themselves on the assembly lines and got the shaft need the help. FUCK you politicians & CEOs

  • donate a little to the real news network. they are 100% more informative than anything you find on the mainstream news networks. i've shelled out 50 clams. most of you can do the same.

  • Bye bye GM and Ford. Can I get a bailout I'm having problems with my bils? Since the Fed is just printing money, I would like some too.

Since 0ct 08 money supply has increased 70%...so shouldn't we be getting hyper-inflation?

Who can afford to buy a new car? Those days are gone.

  • The over production of cars has to do with expansion of population, more people more cars.

If people would regulate to 1 or 2 kids per couple we could advance with less side effects like these ones.

If they keep making cars we would have to keep expanding by making our cities bigger and destroying forests, rivers, swamps, jungles.

Does this human ambition has an end?

  • Unfortuneately not.

  • "Does this human ambition has an end?"

Judging from the last couple of hundred years, no.

  • first of all we aren't overpopulated. Another problem is really a lot of countries that are ddeveloped implement more efficient public transportation systems. So really the problems the US face with automobiles is quite unique when compared to the rest of the world.

  • Funny how the same set of people who screeched about being told that fuel efficiency standards was overweaning Governmental interference in their personal choices. They made sure that pick up trucks remained exempt from fuel efficiency standards along with their precious SUV's.

  • Just give me a Camaro, Challenger or Mustang, and I'm cool.

  • American Axel is another auto part supplier that was hammered and then some.

Everything is trashed and what sucks is, it was all planned and these bankers are not even done yet!

  • "Auto bailout for whom?"

  • "Auto bailout for WHOM?", not "for who".

I expect better grammar than this from journalists.

  • only faggots say WHOM. whom shouldnt even be a word. who works just fine. i'm having flashbacks of my old saggy titted english teacher!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! GET AWAY FROM ME MRS. PERRY!!!!

  • hey at least the people who dont work didnt get hurt

  • Chrysler should have never been bailed out the first time. Today, we'd have 2 much stronger car (ford/GM) manufacturers.

  • Its madness! Gas guzzlers are madness! The industry went on making cars that aren't wanted around the world.. so no exports to Europe or anywhere with good environmental regulations!

Electric & hybrid cars are available NOW!

Algea Ethanol + hybrid technology could make a non-polluting car!

Battery technology is advancing due to demand.. etc!

If the 'bail-out' isn't used to re-tool for a new generation of efficient 'clean' technologies then it won't help! & if there aren't 'jobs' who'll buy them?

  • You never get this kind of clear analysis on other channels, great job as usual.

  • Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well big-us-auto, you're insane. Sometimes you have to limit peoples options in order for them to adapt.

  • if the unions would get with the program and stop fighting for Harry Truman's health benefits then they'd have a leg to stand on.

  • This is poor journalism! Japan and Korea can sell in the North American markets and the North Americans can't sell in Japan or Korean markets. Money goes out and nothing comes in.

  • JUST MAKE CARS LIKE YOUR COMPETITION AND YOU MIGHT STAND A CHANCE. On the other hand their workers still for the most part make way less than ours in many industries. The trade balance is off - you're right.

  • He was my prof! Good guy.

  • he must be a CUPE bastard then. any friend of CUPE is an enemy of the student.

  • Ford built a car in the mid 40"s that was built from hemp,I f we would demand freedom and liberty the solutions would flow out of that , Dr.Ron Paul is my president.

  • "Those who do not know their history, are doomed to repeat it."
