MIDIs are time savers.

For my guitar version of this song of my channel, I used a midi file for the Drums and Bass of that song and transposed them into Reason 4, thus having real instrument sounds.

Not that I couldn't have figured out every single note, it's just that I have other things to do and minutes I save are always handy for other things ;)
