  • Good review. one thing to consider. Knox was comic relief, but more importantly, he served as a way to introduce Vicki Vale (She came to Gotham City because of his story) and as the guy who kept pushing to find the truth. I agree with wishing Billy Dee Williams could have continued in the role; I also wish we could have seen more of Knox. He was the outsiders point of view. He was funny, and you kinda felt bad for him in the end when he didn't get Vicki, but happy he was proven right.

  • oui

  • You need a pop guard on your microphone.

  • Nicholson is the better one. Ledger wasn't even the Joker. He didn't even crack any jokes like the joker is supposed to be like. All he did was talk about his mother, his father, his wife, stupid stupid stuff and his laugh didn't cut it. TDK is the most OVERRATED MOVIE OF ALL TIME.

  • I watched all the other Batman movies before this one, lol. Yes, I really liked this movie even though I don't care for Vicky very much. I love how dark Gotham was in this movie and I love Jack Nicholson and this was one of his best roles :D

I like Heath Ledgers Joker too and Mark Hamil is my all time favorite, I do enjoy watching the batman movies though I perfer the animated series and the Batman more.

  • This is still the best Batman movie even after twenty years, everything about it is just wonderful and it's always a pleasure to watch.

  • lol

  • LOL

  • LOL

  • LOL

  • LOL

  • I liked all your revews...

so far untill I saw dis one heath is funny and no dark knight is better

MY FAVORITE JOKER WOULD HAVE TO BE (drum role please) Mark hamil tied with heath!

  • That & Batman returns were the bast batman movies ever!

  • Enjoying all the reviews!

  • They really could of done more with this movie, they focused more on the joker rather then batman. Art direction and cinematography are the stand outs in this movie. Jack Nicholson was playing himself, as he does in most of his roles. I'm sure if anyone else would taken the role, that we as audience would of never have expected; i.e. Heath Ledger we most likely would have been floored. Jack was the most obvious to portray the joker then. Its just a matter of taste in the end really.

  • what a way to go asshole!

  • i just reckon that the batman soundtrack by prince is just the best soundtrack ive heard in ages. also heath ledgers version is much better than jack nicolson. i wish prince had supported his albums like he had with this album and purple rain. he supported them so much because they were hit films. albums like around the world in a day and parade would have been bigger if hed actually supported them

  • okay, thanks 4 ur opinion, lol

  • I thought you had quite an insightful review actually.

  • thanks, its funny people get on here and make a negative comment in hopes of getting a rise out of someone. I don't mind negative comments, but having someone call me fag or say I'm is just sad on there part. Anyway, thanks for your comment

  • This review is gay ass. You have no way of knowing that another writer would not come out and give batman a chance to shine like nolan did in the dark knight. The Botton line is Nolan made batman a great film series not that camp burton shit. I like batman 89 but to even speak of it as the same as TDK makes me think you are nuts.

  • I respect your opinion, but I don't compare the two films. I basically just put it out that as good as Nolan films are, we have to remember what first helped allow the media, DC and WB give the world a dark Batman. Before this Batman was a campy hero and a team player(except in the comics).

  • Yea, I know what you mean.Batman was a power ranger when you really think about it.Just make sure that you don't state more than 1 or 2 opinions and when you do say in my opinion so that you can avoid a lot of controversy and arguments.

  • yeah btw... this movie is everything but gritty...

dark knight is gritty. gritty and gothic are like + and - m8t.

  • don't agree with you on ur take on the joker.

i think that ledger's joker is pretty awesome, not as a joker but as a movie character. to me the joker is the guy that is not supposed to be serious. i mean the point of the joker is right there in batman 89. the guy will put deadly gas at the museum so he can have a intimate conversation. that's the true anarchy aspect of the joker to me. not moralizing out loud about it.

  • I agree with you this is the true joker as great as Ledger's joker was J.N. was the better and more true version of batman comics

  • You know your movies buddy.

Batman is my favorite of the series.

  • Thanks, I grew up loving films since I could see.

  • Why is The Dark Knight supposed to be better than Batman? Keaton was just an amazing batman since he can actually smile and look awesome! As bruce wayne hes amazing since he has no emotions but you can feel his pain inside. Jack I thought was better since he acted like the joker more than heath ledger. Heath ledger didnt really remind me of the joker and didnt have a permanent smile which he should. Batman had better story, characters were done like the comics more, and was better Directed.

  • Well I'm guessing because it was darker and the films were based more truly on the written material. Tim Burton did great with his film, it was dark and Batman was kept hidden in a way, but the whole Jack killed Bruce's parents and even giving Joker an identity was a disappointment to comic book fans, but for since I wasn''t big on comics back than, it didn't matter to me.

  • @TheDecapitator666

Wow, I feel like I'm reading what the Nostalgia Critic said in his New vs Old Batman video.

  • @TheDecapitator666 Batman'89's characters were closer to the comics?? Have you ever even peeked inside one? So Gordon's a short, fat, elderly, incompetant stooge that has barely any relationship w/ Batman? Batman's a short, scrawny, out of shape, mute with an afro and glasses who murders criminals? Harvey Dent is a black guy with a mustache who does nothing? Joker's a fat, short, elderly gangster who after is murdered by batman just days after his origin leaves no effect on gotham? Not in comics

  • @TheDecapitator666

Actually both Joker's had a permanent smile, they just had different reasons for the smile, Heath's was much more violent and we actually never really know how it happened, the Nicholsen version was clearly due to the chemicals. Nicholsen's Joker was bade off the Killing Joke and more current Joker, whereas Heath Ledger was more based on his original conception, as well as The Killing Joke. I don't compare because they are different versions.

  • Real good review.

  • Thank you, thanks 4 watching

  • Yes, Michael Keaton is great as both Bruce Wayne/Batman. To me, he kicks the crap out of Kilmer, Clooney and Bale because those guys don't really captured the spirit on how should be if he exist. But Michael Keaton got everything right and next to Adam West, he is the best actor to play as Batman.

And personally, I never liked the Prince songs all that much. I'm not a fan of Prince or his music and it just didn't hook me. But anyways, awesome review of the movie, man.

  • Exactly he seemed to understood both characters and understood quite well that they were two separate characters. Bal does a good job, but has the voice down wrong(he's trying to imitate Kevin Conroy it seems). Kilmer was good as Bruce Wayne, but fell short as Batman. Clooney did an okay job for the scripthe was given, but it seemed to just reflect the Adam West style Batman and no one could play Camp Batma like him.

I'm not a Prince fan at all, but it fit so well with The Joker's tone.

  • This is my favorite Batman movie of all time. I love it more then The Dark Knight for 3 reasons:

    1. It's directed by Tim Burton. He's captured the spirit of Batman very well and I'm huge fan of his work.

    2. This movie includes my favorite version of the Joker. Not the best Joker, since I love all 3 Jokers. But Jack's Joker left the biggest impression on me.

    3. I really like the dark look of Gotham, over the colorful one in Schumacher's movies and the one in the Nolan movies.

  • Burton definitely captured the spirit and look of Batman and his world. Helet it seems like a comic, while adding a tone of realism. I agree with The Joker sentiment, each portrayel of the Joker is different because the Joker of the time wasdifferent and Nicholsen'scertainly left an impression. I wouldhave to say this is my favorite Batman film because its from my childhood, its the first time I really found out how dark of a character he is and its all around great. Dark Knight is todays best

  • My favorite batman movie, it owns all, Michael Keaton is a superb Bruce Wayne and Batman, and In my opinion Jack Nicholson was the man when it comes to The Joker. I also feel this was true to the comics, as dark knight fans say it isnt, but however it depends what comics you read. People say Jack is nothing like the killing joke joker, i completely disagree. This movie rocks your ass.

  • Well the thing is Jack Nicholsen was mostly the Joker that was shown in the 80's comics, with bits of the original created Joker thrown in. Fans complain mostly because of the backstory given and the fact that Joker is given a name. In the comics he never had an identity, just an alias' I still love Nicholsen's portrayel and think the Prince music really compliments the Jokers character. Heath is the original Joker all the way though. Both are great

  • Yeah I agree. btw favorited, awesome review.

  • cool thanks

  • What about Heath Ledger?

  • Wrong reveiw fool.

  • I'm just asking what does he think about Heath Ledger's version.

  • check out my Dark Knight review, i love him and though he did really well, but i still believe u cant compare the two because they are different eras of the same character

  • Michael Keaton is the fuckin man! He own the Batman role, my favorite Batman for sure!! Awsome review MR4L

  • The Special Features, definitely rival that of the Superman box set features, even though it has a less amount of disc.

  • BADDASS review Eric shit all those features is there a 2 disc special ed of this movie that i can get those features or is it only out on the box set? This flim is my fav was crezy about the sequels that munch I own TDK I have to get BB.5 STARS!

  • Its available separately and with the box set. Not like the Superman collection that you had to buy in order to get the 3 Special Disc

  • Cool Eric thanks!

  • great review

  • I Have The Exact Same Box Set..It's Pretty Bad Ass...I Have A Very Soft Spot For Batman(1989) Reason? Michael Keaton Is Awesome As The Dark Knight, And Keaton Plays The Psychotic Brooding Hero To A Hilt. And Jack Nicholson Was Born To Be The Joker(Ledger Was Fantastic, But Jack's Is A Different Breed..) And Party Man By Prince Is A Great Song. Great Review. I Like Batman(89) A Lot Better Than Batman Begins..(I Didn't Care For BB As Much..TDK Was One Of The Best Films Of The Year 2008..)

  • Yep, still i understand why comic book nerds are upset at the film, but they have to admit that Tim Burton and Michael Uslan gave us the real Batman. I enjoyed Batman Begins, but for different reasons than this.

  • Your bang on the mark with that comment Keaton was bad ass and Nicholson was superb . The whole Prince soundtrack was rocking and added so much flavour to this classic flick .

  • I'll be doing my Batman Returns review today too, my opinion on Keaton changes a little bit for that film. Not all in a bad way, not all good like this
