  • Asafa's number is 69 on his pinny thing.

  • Reaction time was poor and still won easily...

  • Comment removed

  • i bet any nfl backrunner can do that

  • @wakko380 die.

  • @wakko380 lol

  • Retarded commentator

  • If powell had a better start he could have beat the WR right there...damn inpressive.

  • @DrakeBrunette he'd have had to have gone 0.1s BEFORE the gun went. i.e. react psychically and 0.2 faster than the minimum reaction speed possible by a human being.

  • @100m200m400m,ohh common my dude, not u too,ur name alone should tell the world u knew something about track and field, but evidently you don't,listen, all u clowns keep saying is,if Asafa didnt freeze,if asafa didnt do this,if asafa didnt do that, the bottomline is he lost, last time i check,if didnt win any trophy,if is a losers excuse, this guys entire career, has been the same thing over and over,if he couldnt win consistently in his prime, what makes u think,he's gonno win now.Bolt is the man.

  • @deepbg1 ASAFA DOESN'T WIN BIG RACES BECAUSE HE CANT TAKE THE PRESSURE! NOT HIS FAULT THO.... ITS BEEN LIKE THAT EVER SINCE HE STARTED RUNNING SO WHY QUIT NOW? NOTHING WILL CHANGE ANYTHING! ONLY QUITTERS QUIT AND TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THAT YOUR NOT A QUITTER AND THE REALITY IS, YOU WONT WIN EVERY RACE! YOU MUST BE A QUITTER?!

  • @BZLCharlie,no he can't , he can't even challenge Tyson Gay,this was his glory days,2008.he's done.As far as i am concern he should retire, cuz any race that my main man Usain Bolt is in,he might as well be fighting for second place, now if Usain and Tyson gay are both in the lineup, then he might as well be looking for third.

  • @deepbg1 The comment you replied too was posted 1 year ago! back then Powell WAS faster than Gay has EVER been and EVER will be he just never had the chance to show his true self. if powell wasnt a freezer he'd be in the low 9.6s by now and thats a fact! and retire from track?? are you high????

  • @100m200m400m actually no. Gay's wind adjusted PB is slower than Powell's wind adjusted PB. That puts Powell ahead of Gay..not in head to head, but in terms of best runs. The all-time wind adjusted best runs are Bolt>Powell>Gay. without adjusting for wind (legal only) its Bolt>Gay>Powell.

  • @rcaddict72 when did i talk about wind?

  • what is Kar16d talking about, Ennis London didn't take drugs, she's alleged to have. She said someone sent a strange package to her home which she never opened, she didn't fail any test and got banned like Gailten or Marian. Who the hell is Andrian Findley? most people don't know him, he's slow, only makes relay team or so, he probably took it just to make the team and got caught.

  • Black men and White men typically have different muscle fibers used for different activities Black men tend to have more fast-twitch muscle fibers which is good for sprinting, basketball, boxing, etc. White men tend to have more slow-twitch muscle mass, just look at powerlifting and strong man competitions. Nearly all the world's strongest men are white. There is also an issue of shading. The color black or any dark color for that matter further excentuates the muscle tone of the body.

  • @yttihp11 You are right, and then you are wrong. Fast twitch fibres twitch faster than the slow ones, and therefore with more power than the slow ones. People who are strong and lift weights have a higher proportion of fast twitch fibres, especially olympic weightlifters, their proportions of fast twitch are equal to sprinters.

And, we have the kenyans and the ethiopians, they're also black, but east africans have a slow twitch dominance and therefore becoming marathon runners and soforth.

  • that was a FAST WHITE GUY

  • "and can he...match the world record...or..."

  • Usain had a faster time in another 100m and u sain is faster than powell and tyson

  • at the last bit of the race his body wasnt even moving fast

  • tyson coulda healthy so till ....he cant beat bolt........ and asafa on their best days...

  • i..think...tyson...can..beat..all..of..im...if..hes..healthy

  • Why are you talkin about Tyson Gay when it is Asafa's own countryman: Usain Bolt who is in his best form and seemingly dominates every race he enters. That's why everyone says Asafa has the physical gifts to hang with or even defeat Bolt but right now he doesn't have the mental toughness needed to defeat Bolt.

  • Usain Did not went to Berlin 100% fit early earlier he had some mishap which c& he was behind in his training. Asafa has injuries this year with his ankl t& groin so he was not 100% fit. Asafa has improved significantly this year in mental toughness as oppose to last year that is why me medal. 2010-12 will be a very interesting year for 100 meter track and field for men. If Asafa, Usain and Tyson if all is well. I am expecting great things from Asafa.

  • you are too right!

  • The only person on Earth i ever see running 9.81 that easy is Usain Bolt . If this guy is in good shape next season and with his new found confidence the season might not be as boring as i first thought it would be with bolt winning all the time.

  • haha tyson gay is better 9.71

  • haha usain bolt is better than tyson GAY.

  • Idiot

  • whats 37km/h in mph?

  • I think Asafa could challenge Bolt's WR IF he put himself in the right mindset

  • i think so too

  • And I completely agree with you. I firsted noticed in the Olympics....where he just got scared of Bolt and fucked up...but the pressure isn't on it....the world knows he is a great sprint...he just needs to bring it out himself

  • @BZLCharlie not sure..maybe..but he doesn't have the top speed as bolt. if you see asafa in a 200m race he doesn't have nearly as much the endurance as tyson or bolt...if he trained for the 200m habitually I think he'd be running low 9.6s

  • @BZLCharlie are you serious, you can't just take .2 seconds off of 100m just like that...

  • @BZLCharlie u must be joking. bolt is in a league of his own. Bolt is to asafa and gay as johnson was to lewis and christie...actually bolt is even further ahead.

  • @rcaddict72 Hes not THAT far ahead of the field XD I mean he is the fastest man in the world but if he slacks off by the smallest fraction then both Gay and Powell are there to take that race from him.

  • @BZLCharlie

no way a human beats a horse .

  • I agree with you entirely

  • Whatever! It ur opinion cuz u like many can't take loosing. When Carmelita Jetta is running 10.67 and Tyson gay 9.71 no one is saying that they weren't tested, so shut up if u don't have anything positive to say. It the Americans who cause track and field to look bad with taking dope. Jamaica don't have a history of taking dope. And further more time will tell.

  • @nikelnicole Uh Dwane Chambers not American, who else? uh Zhanna Block, non American. Ben Johnson? non-american. So it's not just American's that cause track and field to look bad. And for you information Jamaican short distance hurdlers, Delloreen Ennis-London and Adrian Findlay took roids. Get your info first before posting things.

  • asafa powell is aone in a million fastest man!!!

  • craig pickering for mayor...or at least the first white dude to break into 9s

  • ur a retard

  • Lol Craig pickering is moving his arms so fast while Asafa there is moving them slower but goes like 10 times faster, funny stuff

  • craig pickering has a funny runnunkg style....

  • The white dude was Pickering?

  • yeah far left buy one

  • tbh, the guy needs to lean up a bit, it'll help him lengthen his stride and not slow down so much towards the end of the race.

  • Yeah craig runs like his hands are nooks. or stumps, runs really funny indeed

  • Man, they all brotha's

  • there was a white guy...

  • @ANZO89 lol who came in last or second to last

  • @ANZO89 THAT IS JUST UNHEARD OF. stfu.

  • @ANZO89 yea and he got 10 flat sooo.......

  • he came in last place

  • this must be the frigging 10,000th time i've seen someone write "dominate" instead of "dominant".

    Pick up a damn book.

  • the reccord their competing against will be smashed by bolt in britan

  • craig pickering has really bad technique

  • yeah but is it not a good sign? That only means that he can do it much better!

  • yea but he and his coach obv aint realiswed or somthin yet

  • Great technique.

  • wen was this?

  • it was at rieti the 11 september.. i was there

  • powell the best!

  • craig pickering will be the 1st white man to break under 10 seconds at 100m

  • Why are black people better ?

  • Well, who's black?? I've never seen a Kenyan, Ethiopian, Thai, or a Indian- East India, run anywhere near the way Americans and a few other country's sprinters run?? In fact, India doesn't produce much in the way of athletes at all. And I'm sure you would use the comically superficial label "black" to describe them. Think Vijay Singh, for example. He's very dark-skinned. There seems to be something with West African ancestry and footspeed. But Jesse Owens wasn't dark-skinned, was he?

  • i dont know what the argument is but don't u remember Frankie Fredericks wasn't he from Nambia or something like that

  • sorry mate some one has Australian Patrick Johnson is white (his mother is Indigenous Australian, his father is Irish). His best is 9.93

  • mixed race is not white

  • that means hes part black

  • asafa got a perfect biomechanics, this is the reason of his achievements.

  • H

    E

    L

    P

is the first block 2 feet away from the line?

how come i was taught 1 foot away from the line without blocks... it cant be much different surely?

    help??

    lol

  • i dont know man, my track coach lets us aim the blocks however is comfortable. I'm not sure if it is standardized, because there is no way a guy like Usain Bolt and a guy like Brian Dzingai will have their blocks aimed the same lol!

  • it's whatever's comfortable. most people start off with a foot or 2 feet for the front and back respectively then adjust from there.

  • powell is awsome but just crumbles iwth preassure

  • fantastic finish! ive nvr seen 9.81 so easily run!

  • how about you watch Usain Bolt walk 9.85 in the Beijing semifinals

  • dude he made my day wen he did that!!

  • that was superb also still aint 9.81 tho lol

  • well it was 9.81

  • i hope he is ready for the world championship come 2009 cause there saying that gay is gonna be ready and you know bolt will be ready so i hope that powell is..

  • He is always the same in that he looses in medal races.

  • great race, he said if he didn't false start he would of challenged the world record.

  • Was it powell who broke?

  • Yes. He just laughed it off, but then held back in the start you see in this race when they got away properly. I think that had he reacted normally and been in his normal position at 30m he could well have broken the World Record. His final 50m suggests that he's ready to go, just needs the right conditions (which he had here) and right frame of mind.

  • "asafa powell has been known for that last 50m stretch" WTF??? This reporter guy has said some of the most ignorant things i've ever heard. I doubt he's even ever stepped foot on a track.

  • How do you mean?

  • well that was just one in a series of ignorant comments i heard the commentator make. But Asafa has never been know for his last 50m(maybe when he was in his early 20's), his first 60m is the best part of his race but his last 40-50m have been known to be subpar. Check out his race in Brussels vs. Usain Bolt if you wanna see what I mean.

  • he seems to have been working on his finishing and his start has suffered a bit imo , he has not looked the explosive start i saw in 05-06 over the past months ; however his finish has gotten alot better and thats what gave him 9.72 with a slght wind

  • his start looked great in Brussels, but his last 50m wasn't great. But yeah, i see what you mean. In Lausanne he got a bad jump, but pulled away from the field at the 50m mark, and the same in this race in Rieti(even though he had false-started in Rieti).

  • There's my boy! Back in the game!

  • yeh he killed that one
