  • @sexybrunetteify;

Hi babe, how r ya ?

    2-26-12

  • i am american but i dont think of elvis as just american because he is so loved all over the world that i believe that he belongs to the world his bday should be a world holiday not just american holiday

  • One of the best songs and performances ever!

  • Look at him go! He's got the fast moves!

  • Great original recording and great footage. Thanks for posting.

  • I LOVE YOU MAMA

  • The best thing I love about Elvis was his attitude towards fellow performers. He'd be genuinely happy for them, unlike someone like Jerry Lee Lewis who was arrested in front of Graceland at the time, drunk, and wanting to kill Elvis.

  • John Lennon summed it up for me, .. "Before Elvis there was nothing".............

  • This is the ONE!

  • as JohnLennon said:"Before Elvis there was nothing" ummm beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart music began before a tv set;)

  • To me, the first rock&roll song is 'move it on over' by Hank Williams. Listen to that and Bill Haley's 'rock around the clock' back to back and you'll see.

  • @Oscaraleptico Some many comments on what was first, who cares, Presley surpassed them all, the sun records weren't even rock n roll, it was a blend of country, blues etc...

  • So happy to have had Elvis in my life.

    What a singer....LOVE HIM!!!!!

  • Great to see him when he first started in the short sleeved shirt!!!! AWESOME!!! thx:)

  • is this the first rock n roll song ever?

  • @bossvlada no many say "rocket 88" by jackie brenston and his delta cats was the first true rock and roll song

  • @bighitter805 Is considered rhythem and blues, only some people are calling it rock. But really just doesn't matter. This song got Elvis started and that's all that matters, history has already spoken.

  • without elvis no rock without rock no metal and so im glad elvis was born

  • I think I like the original Arthur Crudup version a little better, but it never hit as big. Elvis had more presence.

  • Vernon and Gladys should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

    1-8-12

  • Its ELVIS's birthday 2day, today should be an AMERICAN holiday.

    1-8-12

  • @patrickb5197 I disagree. January 8th should not only be an American holiday. That day should be a World Holiday.

  • IT ALL STARTS HERE. WHAT A LEGACY

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW MAMA

  • That's All Right Elvis :)

  • Its 2012, and ELVIS IS STILL THE KING.

    1-2-12

  • one of elvises best songs but it only has so few views...WOW.

  • @unklelemmy

..... and to anyone else who mentions that little puke and ELVIS in the same breath n sentence, please dont do it again. YOU all are doin a great injustice to the Greatest of em all, the KING of ROCK n ROLL; -E L V I S -

    12-28-11

  • One of the greatest recordings in music history.

    12-27-11

  • E L V I S , then and NOW, the COOLEST guy that ever lived.

    12-27-11

  • The 50's had Elvis. We have Justin Bieber. We got screwed.

  • @unklelemmy Amen

  • My father tells a story about the first time he heard this.He had just pulled up in front of a pool hall when his brother came running out and said "you have got to come and hear this song"He instantly liked it.The year was 1954 and we are still talking about it.

  • I jus love him and Michael Jackson. There both equally amazing. Thank god for ur blessings. I'll luv u both forever and always. Now ur up there intertaining tha awesome god!:)

  • JULY 5, 1954 The Birth of Rock 'n Roll when Sun Records issued and released this Song by Elvis Aron Presley, the King of Rock 'n Roll, the King of Music and the Artist of the Centrury and Forever!

  • Hark. People, listen to the other versions of this classic! Mike Bloomfield (a white guy) in the 60s, the original version in 1946 by Arthur Crudup (black), Jimi Hendrix (3/4 black or whatever). Which is best? Matter of opinion. Elvis is great, I worship Jimi, and, as I said, "Big Boy" Crudup originated. But I like Bloomfield's the most. Oh, and then there's Crudup's sons' version done in 2000; not bad at all. But one thing is undeniable, it's the song that "launched" rock and roll.

  • Ah. I was going to append to that comment but I'll wait and see if it's approved for posting and make it joined-up.

  • No one can dance like Elvis.. no one.

  • No one can dance like Elvis.. no one.

  • @ladyguitara Not bad for a white guy.

  • No one can dance like Elvis.. no one

  • YES the one that started it BUT US billboard took this and 10 more song off and dropped him down to below no. 10. Google elvis petition and sign to protect his legacy!! What next?Heard there is no fans like ELVIS fans so let's show our love and support. I am furious about this myself. HE CHANGED THE MUSIC WORLD!!! HOW DARE THEY!!!

  • This is some goooooood shit

  • Simply, the Best!!!

Oh and Rocket 88 is rock & roll.

  • The Snow Patrol advert before the song is a reminder of how awful music has become..

  • The Snow Patrol advert before the song is a reminder of how shit music has become..

  • The King of Rock and Roll.

  • Man that was when Elvis was "Elvis"!!!!

  • he doenst have that deep elvis voice in 54

  • Elvis Presley > than today's so called "rockstars"

  • Elvis Presley > than today's "rockstars"

  • I thank God for elvis presley

  • i agree with trippy cat123

  • @MJFanatic96 When you look at it, every decade in every century has had it's shitty aspects, so living in one decade would really be no different from living in another. In 100 years from now, people will be saying the early 2000's must have been absolute hell to live through. Sure things are tough now, but when has it ever been all sunshine and gold-paved roads? Same goes for the '50's. People just want to think the past is always shittier than the present.

  • @MJFanatic96 Then maybe that's exactly why he wanted to grow up back in the 50s

  • to bad he got drafted.

  • @driger888 Yea... Kinda make ya wonder, was it really a random pick, or was he deliberately singled out in order to slow him down or something....I'm not sure how it was in those days, someone can plz reply and put me straight, but when a boy turned 21 was everyone automatically drafted, or was it a randon pick where you had a chance to be missed?

  • Que puedo decir amo a El Rey...

  • August 1967 I sat in a golf cart with him and he asked me what my favorite song was! I was 7 years old and I told him "trying to get to you" He had an acoustic guitar with him and played it for me right there! I'll never forget it! His first two album's are the foundation of Rock and Roll!

  • this seems like a sedate smooth song now but for the time it was rebellious rock

  • I was priviledged to see Scotty Moore play this (and other tracks) at the Swindon Arts Centre in 2004 - I was truly in the presence of a musical legend.....!

  • The king has a beautiful voice!

Up in the sky, he played Rockabilly and rock with the angels! :D

  • im 67 on oct 7 what a great time my generation had kennedys segration and elvis and rock n roll.

  • 4 people are envious of Elvis... Worse for them...

  • as JohnLennon said:"Before Elvis there was nothing"...

  • @lumbiaknight87 It's true! I read it in a magazine... People from today should be proud of Elvis. They listen to pop or metal and say: who cares for elvis? they shoud care and be proud. No Elvis, no song since 1956.

  • THE ONE AND ONLY! EVER!

  • And after this..... all hell broke loose, and the age of ROCK began!

  • 1954????

  • KING OF KINGS

  • best Elvis song...my opinion ,,....

  • Forrest Gump tought him to dance:)

  • Bruno sent meh:)

  • 117 seconds that changed the world forever

  • @bekbek78 so true!!

  • Just rocks ass!

  • I have to perform this song for a music class soon. It's really intimidating to have to try and match this. After watching this, I know I'll look like a fool on stage. Long live Elvis Presley, The King of Rock and Roll!

  • @briannasorensen3 thats how people felt about elvis when theyu first seen him move lol so dont worry just go and have fun and please post it on youtube and also if you need any tips on how to do it ill help you i love perfomring this song lol

  • mon favori

  • fav elvis song b4 col tom parker

  • so wish I grew up in a better generation.

this is how I like it!

  • @trippycat123 that generation won WW2 (not some fictitious "war on terror") then built a superpower with nuclear technology and a space program that put 17 missions on the moon with no glitches or private contractors' substandard work blowing up like the space shuttles, than they went home to relax and created rocknroll as an afterthought. They did all that with top marginal taxrates at 91%, free public education for all and FDR's tough regulations on business: no one called them "socialist".

  • @szatmar666 yanks in world war 2.lol.what bull, you instigated your own involvement the same way you did with terror and 911. you sent the Lusitania into waters bound to have it sunk, killing all civillians and enticing the american people to finally decide they wanted to join in.long after hundreds of thousands had already sacrificed themselves from the start. and you also instigated the attack on pearl harbour yourselves to keep your own people screaming for war. you havent changed at all

  • @mrbarleymob well, I am not saying everything was perfect, just that it was different, that's all. and last I checked without US commercial support before the US even joined the war proper you all would speak german by now. Republicans were immoral aholes even back then they were trying to throw roadblocks against FDRs desire to help Britain hence the need 4 a ruse. You had about 2 months worth of food reserves after which the population would have starved if my information is correct.

  • @szatmar666 you are right...the uk was in dire straights at that point, as for speaking german i dont think that is very likely given that they were already planning invasions to the east that would ultimately have brought their demise...but i know for sure that whenever the yanks came into ww2 it was on their terms and for reasons of their own...none of them being the well being of european civilians.....or their own for that matter.

  • @mrbarleymob I understand the cynicism about the US elites. they have some real sociopaths among them. for example 1 called Prescott Bush was using the money from unsuspecting US investors to invest in Thiesen, the steel company who built the German war machine. but you also have to realize that UBC, this bank and many other were closed down under for trading with the enemy. The difference today is that those SOBs have full control over the world economy. (their steel is used @ WTC rebuild)

  • @trippycat123 I feel sorry for you. We were the lucky ones.

  • @trippycat123 your generation is not at fault. they were raised by the previous ones. in any case, a generations qualities are based on what individuals do. if you don't like your generation, do something. go out and play music, create art, make a contributions. there are doers and then there are people that bitch about the doers.

  • Love it.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Awesome video, I loved it. Thanks

  • KING!

  • this guy inspires so many musicians. if you like elvis, check out our band Rat Stomp :)

    youtube.com/user/ratstompmusic

  • the king

  • Love it! This is a really great montage- it strongly captures the real essence of ELVIS!

  • Das ist das beste Lied von Elvis!

    greeting from Germany.)

  • Fuck I miss him so much!

  • he could really hit the notes back in the 50's.

  • I have chills every time I listen to this music! That's all rigth Elvis!!!

  • "rocket 88" has been claimed to be the first r'n'r song ever....but this one tune by Elvis is the first to merge white and black music all combined. R'n'R is not black music as many try to impose. It's black rhythm and blues with white country, and Elvis, in 1954 did what nobody ever did....he merged the two "racial" music sounds and singled handed created ROCK'N'ROLL

  • @qqsomething You are wrong. This song only reached Billboard´s Country Parade.

  • @qqsomethingYou´re a completely ignorant person.

  • @willpn100 Coming from a person who said Bill Halley recorded Rocket 88 in 1951 and the expression Rockabilly is due to that, everyone who reads this and has curiosity to search for the truth, will know who's the real ignorant here

  • @qqsomething if "Rocket 88" isn´t 'rockabilly" can the Big Master of Rock and Roll tell everybody what kind of music is "Rocket 88" by Bill Haley?

  • @willpn100 Country Boogie.

  • @willpn100 That would be western swing territory from where I'm standing. But hey, while most rockabillish aficionados concern themselves with the whole spectrum of roots music lineage, I'm something of a rockabillish fundamentalisht. 'That's Alright Mama' has something of vital bluegrass essence which still renders it as fresh as if it were plucked this morning. Some of the other Sun stuff, not quite so. Gene Vincent, however ... perfect potency right the way through his '56 sessions.

  • @georgegillette Ah, here we go. What I was going to say was - it's good to see such strong opinions abide about two genuine pioneers of popular music. They each stand up in their own right - no need to compare. As long as the music still moves you, aye.

  • .....and rock'nroll was born...

  • @qqsomething You are wrong. Rock and Roll was born in 1951 when Bill Haley recorded "Rocket 88", combining r&b and country music. Moreover Rocket 88, by Bill Haley was the first rock and roll song that featured guitar not saxophone. Actually the real birth of rock-a-billy".

    ROCK-A-BILL.

  • @willpn100 Bill Haley recorded "Rocket 88"???? Maybe Ike Turner and his band on Sun Records? I don't know, I'lI just let you google it yourself and realize your ignorance. Plus ROCKABILLY = rock+hillbilly? lololol at an ass

  • @willpn100 Bill Haley is famous for his 1954/1955 "Rock Around The clock"....I just love stupid ignorants like you who come here stating erroneous facts, like they know it al and fall flat on their face.....go study some music history, you ignorant

  • @qqsomething The only stupid here is you. Study more rock and roll history!!!!!!! All elvis fans are rock and roll ignorants like you.

  • @willpn100 You made a fool out of yourself by showing you're ignorant and now don't want to admit it....must be a real jerk in person

  • @qqsomething That goes for you too!!!!!!

  • @willpn100 thank you very much sir!

  • @qqsomething you´re welcome!

  • @AlexanderCherepanov...I am pretty sure the scene from Forrest Gump is from:

Milton Berle Show 5 Jun 1956: Hound Dog, just look that title up in youtube.

  • epic tune!!

  • Elvis Presley That's Alright Mama 1954

  • better then the crap people listening today!!!!!!!!!

    elvis!!!

    I love rock n roll

  • I prefer the 70's Elvis, there's just too much of a timegap from his 50's music and to my birth in 1992; although I can still enjoy listening and watching to 50's-Elvis since I adore the 70's Elvis so much it's nice to see the development.

  • i like elvis except the later version of him wenhe wore the white jump suit and the deep side burns

  • Happy Mamma's day:)

  • Cool vid!

  • awesome - down home real groove

and now let me take a peek over at the moon mullican records

  • i abused the replay button :D

  • God only knows.

  • At about 1:00 I had to do a double take! He was just swing those arms and slamming those hips! Sexy ;) which performance was that?

  • ain't that percussion-sound coming from a slapped double bass that you hear in modern rockabilly songs as well? Somehow this sounds like a song that you would like to hear in summer when driving your car or whatever and even if I am young and I am open for almost every genre I have to say that this is real music and that it is sad that any of my friends listen to this. Instead they're listening to nothing but main stream and commercial "music". But I don't mind, not belonging to the majority. :)

  • @oxamanda93xo Long live the King!

  • Micheal Jackson got many of his moves watching this man, Elvis Presley.

  • @dahoss65 TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN!!

  • elvis scotty and bill sam and there manager neal (also mr parker was a rich money slob one of elvis's friends basicly saw money signs when elvis was attacked by girls at the gator bowl $-$ what a snob!!)

  • I wish more people watched this young raw Presley than the sad Vegas version. He was great then....wild!

  • ELVIS SCOTTY AND BILL i love you man forever

  • im not a big fan of elvis in 50's years but some songs are good and this song is another great song :)

  • First Rock Song

  • Regresa pronto

  • Everything about him...even his name!...screams, "I am a legend". I hope he knows that he still brings us joy. So FUN to watch Elvis doin' his thing!!!

  • More "covering". The reason of it is that Elvis wasn´t a good lyricist. But the "apple-polisher" media always puts him above everybody.

  • nigger song

  • His mother once said, after the family was evicted from their home for the 4th time said, "Ain't this family ever gonna have any luck?"

This was said exactly 4 months before the release of this song by Sun record.

  • king of rock and roll baby :D

    Long Live the King!!

  • I love that absolutely no one gave this a thumbs down. Brilliant.

  • the Legend of all Legends

  • The king of fucking rock and roll!!!!!

  • Elvis only got better, He always had that special something, that never changed. I will always be an Elvis fan, thanks love watching him.

  • who would have guessed that a legend was gonna walk through sun records door on that bright missipi day!

  • HELL THE FUCK YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • genius

  • Great vid man , no overblown bs just a great vid , thanks

  • God only knows.

  • Oh, come off it, howlingsandy. That thing's been done to death. I don't know why some people are constantly trying to defend the honor of black musicians. Jackie Wilson said a lot of black singers took their act from Elvis. Chuck Berry called Elvis the greatest ever, and he was greatly influenced by a lot of "white music" also.

And I'm by no means an Elvis worshipper. I know very little of his music although this early, pure rock'n'roll stuff seems to be pretty great.

  • Genuine Elvis, moving and singing as only he knew how ( imitators might as well forget it!!!!). They don't get it!

  • This Song is FANTASTIC!

  • That's All Right (Mama) by Arthur Crudup who pioneered ROCK, a MUCH-COVERED NEVER GOT ROYALTIES bluesman, ACTUAL "Father of Rock & Roll." Elvis' start was covering 3 Crudup songs! Elvis told reporters in 1956, "The colored folks been (performing) it for more years than I know. I got it from them...in Tupelo..I used to hear old *Arthur Crudup**bang his box the way I do now and I said if I ever got to the place where I could feel all old Arthur felt, I'd be a music man like nobody ever saw."
