I think you done something wrong then.

Follow the steps closely and make sure you are converting a .flv file. If you have downloaded a video which is showing up as a basic file . . then add .flv at the end. So if your video filename is "Simpsons Trailer" then change it to "Simpsons Trailer.flv" . Then convert ;)
