@bestamerica It is magic marker. The light will reflect from the white paper but not from the dark spot. You need the dark spot to get hot enough to ignite the Flash Paper.
@bestamerica In general, darker color and duller finish absorb heat faster. So if you have a bright, polished chrome or white surface, it will reflect most of the heat off of it. However, a dull (possibly sanded) black surface will absorb most of the heat. To put this in proper context (so the science Nazis don't flame me) heat is infra-red radiation, which is a form of light. All light does what I described, it's just the effects are most pronounced with IR and a couple of other wavelengths.
more powerful lasers show better then their lower powered same nm olored buddys if you have a 5 mW and a 50 mW you will clearer see the beam in daylight etc
No. The color of fire depends on the chemical that is burning, not the color of the chemical. Copper burns green, Sodium (salt) burns yellow, and blue would be from Azure or Selenium.
Oh ok, i thought that would probably be the case, so how would i go about getting this paper to burn blue. I meen orange is good, but it would be amazing if i could make it look as though it was like a gas fire or something
HAha ill need it.. maybe i'll just encapsulate some blue sparkler poweder in flash paper.. i dont know how i could gdo it otehrwise.. short of making my own flash paper.
Wicked lasers is were people that are bad shoppers buy lasers. It is such a rip off you don't even know. I would recommend nova lasers, dragon lasers, laserglow. I would avoid deal extream, and wicked lasers.
See... I love my Wicked Laser, and have nothing but good results from deal extreme. My 300mW Dragon red module is so wide I can't use it for beam effects. My green 100mW Dragon module is wonderful but it cost some coin. Everything I've bought from deal extreme has exceeded all possible expectations. Sorry you got a bad laser and weren't happy. Make a video sharing all your results. It would be useful.
Well, a laser burns BEST on a dark surface, but it can shar a white paper, and then it isn't white any more. It just depends on how strong the laser is. Now silver...
There are a number of lasers that can burn paper, (there are lasers that cut steel!!!) however the green one is the least expensive and most portable, which is why you see so many on these sites.
Yeah, I remember seeing a surgical laser being demonstrated on TV years ago and the doctor used a two toned tongue depresser as the victim of the laser.
Isn't that just Nitrocellulose? Try dissolving Ping Pong balls in acetone (watch for vapors, they will burn from even a hot lightbulb and ignite the whole mix-- do it outside) or buy regular nitrocellulose from firefox-fx(dot)com, you can make the same stuff... Spread it out and let it dry.
I have a 95mW dragon laser than can do this

They can have my 100mW laser when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.
However dealextreme won't ship to US. I wonder what Wicked lasers is doing about this...

Sorry. that is a chemistry question and I'm physics. It would be a completely different thing... and blue is difficult. Good luck.

Kalywonkas 3 years ago
I suspect that the flash will not ignite the powder. It's all about heat and the flash paper is mostly about, well, FLASH.
Starcross42 3 years ago
Haha just discovre, you can buy blue flash paper on ebay.
Kalywonkas 3 years ago
Your dream fulfilled..

I just checked... The paper is blue, but I suspect it burns yellow!

whoa! at :24 the light gets there before the laser beam does!
regdar248 3 years ago
The beam is invisible until smoke or dust particles get in the way. It may appear that the beam moves slowly because of this.

Hmm. I suspect the Chinese will not paint their reentry vehicles black after seeing this exercise in the obvious.

Ah, well, the bottom of the Space Shuttle is Black...Absorbs energy fast, but also emits energy fast.

Color is a factor in absorbtion (and emission) of energy. Black absorbs the light very fast.

I have never seen it anywhere besides a magic store. There are a number of online sites that will sell it. Google flash paper.
Starcross42 4 years ago
where can you get flashpaper?
MagicTrick112 4 years ago
So the laser is igniting the paper quicker when it moves from the white (reflective) area to the black (absorptive) area. Hmmmmm.
PoPoNellie 4 years ago
Yea, the 95mW won't ignite the paper on just the white. The problem with lasers is reflection.
Starcross42 4 years ago
Yeah, I remember seeing a surgical laser being demonstrated on TV years ago and the doctor used a two toned tongue depresser as the victim of the laser.
