  • Flip Phillips was much, much better on tenor sax than he was on the clarinet; and he was brilliant on the clarinet.

  • Great videos - love em' because I'm a big fan of all of these great musicians - esp of Phillips & Buddy DeFranco & Phil Woods & Sheldon & Fontana. I'm currently listening to some of the Norman Granz Jam Session albums from 1953 with Phillips & DeFranco Smith Carter Eldridge Gillespie - where they stretch out for chorus after chorus & they're playing is mind bongling. These two videos are really great. Thanks for sharing them with the rest of us.
