Oh, wow...Chaos in FFVII=/=Chaos in FF1. They're completely unrelated. Chaos in FFVII is basically a collection of negative emotions. Almost like an evil ghost conglomoration thing.

Lucretia infused Vincent with the mako that made up Chaos--not a materia--in order to save his life. It has nothing to do with "selling your soul to the devil." Furthermore, Chaos doesn't even have a "mind," just basic, feral instincts.

I'm not even vaguely sure how that's like alchemy.

There have actually been 3 different Chaos's. FFVII's, which was expanded in Dirge, FF1's, which was expanded in Dissidia, & XII's, which is meant to be a reference to 1's, but is unique.

Garland from I is also not the same as Garland from IX. Some people think they are because...I don't know?

Gilgamesh, however, is speculated to be the same in all of his appearances.

no not really. i didnt play the game but vincent sort of has chaos "parts" in him. i think called chaotic materia (anyone clarify for me please). u could say its like alchemy. and it was like a direct approach to Chaos. meaning chaos gave it to vincent's ex gf lucrecia. something like that. and because of that vincent got reseructed from his death. kind of like selling ur soul to the devil. that's y chaos has direct contact with vincents mind, and they solved that prblm with some other materia
