Calling it Hardcore or Metalcore are both correct but Sever Your Ties contains more Hardcore elements than Metalcore which when classifying them as a band you're more likely to say Hardcore/post hardcore.

He said he was horrified when he found people were inferring that the song was about suicide. I can definitely see how one can hear references to suicide, but the songwriter himself has said he had never meant for that message to be sent through the song.
