I tried the same strategy a few hours ago BEFORE I came to this video, and my defenses failed.

plan is simple. build a dome of wires around the rocks you want to mine and carry on from there.

slept only one hour before work , this game made me mad , last mission is just pure mathematic and strategy have to say this strategy remind me a cell which has legs and then the cell mutate into a virus what destroys everything :)

The ships that really get you in this mission are the rings ships (at least in my case) I realized they attacked the first thing they encountered so every time they came I put a lot of energy relays in their way. While they destroyed them the rest of my weapons finished them off.... try it! :)

I've been trying this tactic a few times and always it very very nearly works. As a superior player I'd like to see if you can pull it off: spreading several closely-kint bases at opposite ends of the field. They will either split their attack, or completely ignore one allowing you to upgrade and fortify
