  • bukkehooorn

  • @ergunayral1991 Odd Sylvarnes Lund, most of the bukkehorn-pieces on this channel is from his cd "Lur og bukkehorn"

  • such a glorious creature! >_> O_O

  • In English, you often pick the male or female and call both animals that. Cow is a female, bull is male; together they're cows. Goose=female; gander=male. Together=goose (pl.=geese). Vixen=female; fox=male. Together=fox(es). Bitch=female; dog=male; together=dogs. Not always though: bruin=male bear; sow=female, etc.

  • @AndyHirt We have alternate terms in English. Billygoat = male goat. Nannygoat = female goat. Some people call the male moose a bull moose. Deer; male= buck, female= doe. It's not a cut and dried single system. English has multiple influences from various language groups that began with its early history.

  • mm. eg kjøpar meg ei slik denne eller neste veke. kudus frå hordaland.

  • i want that goat

  • if i recal correctly in norway they made bukkehorn out of bull horns

  • @TheGeneralBurn These are of Ram(goat) horns. But horns made of cowhorns are also used, though not for complex songs like this.

  • @TheGeneralBurn Goat horns. Cow or other Cattle horns were used as signaling horns and occasionally had holes drilled in them to be used as tuned musical instruments. They play different and have a different tone to them though.

  • Very nice material. I was born in "geataland"...

  • Bukkehorn ftw

  • why does it stays goathorns in the description when its really buckhorn?:D goat=geit the goat is a female and doesnt have that horns. a buck is a male and they have these horns ;) so you must change goathorn to buckhorn;) Buck= Bukk ;D

  • @Runarkh96Zzz Geit/goat doesnt mean specifically female goat no, its a general term for the animal. I didnt know the english word for bukk so i wrote goat, no big deal, i guess most people understand.

  • This is so awesome

  • I love listening to this :D

  • okey you actually put them in a ant-home and let them eat the insade

  • No, you must not do that to Englismen

  • Haha

  • BEAUTYFUL... SOOOOOO BEEEEAAAUUUTYFUUUUUL!!!

I have a goat skull... I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO CREATE A BUKKEHORN WITH IT! If someone knows, please let me know!

send me a pm if anyone knows PLEASE

I researching through internet for almost an hour!

  • You need to cook the horn, then use some kind of tool to pull out the stuff inside the horn.

Then you need to drill 4 fingerholes on top and one under for the thumb.

You also need to create a mouthpiece in the small end(you can play it without too but thats insanely hard).

Thats all i know, you need several tools to make one.

Since you got a horn already you could try to contact one who knows how to make one proffesionally.

tho, keep in mind, this is horns from Norwegian rams

  • Horns from other type of rams(male goats) will sound diffrent from this one.

One can also make horns like this from male sheep horns, aswell as from cow horns.

All types have been used in Norwegian folk music, from late bronze age and up.

All types of horns give diffrent sound, from what ive heard the bukkehorn(goat ram horn) is the most unique and prettiest.

The instrument is very rare, even here where its from, and very hard to play at first.

  • thanks very much

Well... I have no norwegian rams here in Kosovo... but I hope other horns would work also

I have a goat scull where I practice with my BM band here... but I cant remove her horns because I love her too much, lol.

I will seek for horns at any butcher or something, hope I can find it soon. :-) thanks!

  • Very nice. Thank you.

  • I wish there was some way to learn that horn here in Texas.

  • I guess you have to be a self learner, bukkehorn, from what I've heard, isen't the biggest instrument in Texas :p

  • mY GRAMPAW always said the best way to spot a dirty sweed was how he spat his backee.

  • @Nordavind346 Folk music thrives from people who don't have a clue about what they're doing. I like that about it.

  • Playing these instruments are taught only by other players, no institutions exist.

The numbers of masters are few and dwindling.

  • NNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :(

  • Smukt =)

  • Enig! :)
