All this makes me think about why exactly the Doctor left Gallifrey and took Susan with him in the first place... What about Gallifrey is so bad that the Doctor won't allow Susan to make a life for herself there?

I haven't watched any other Classic Who except until up to this point so if my questions are answered later it would be super cool.

Despite the shoe and clothes thing, this scene does show one of the reasons why the series was ahead of it's time even before the first regeneration.

They should bring susan back but as a different actor, a regeneration. That would give an opportunity to retool her character and explore her relationship with her grandfather some more.

@Abena20 Not really. Carol Ann Ford wanted to stay for another season but she got in a fight with producers about expanding her character. They disagree therefore she quit.
