  • I WISH I COULD GET HOLD OF ONE OF THESE!!!!!!

  • first part sounds like I Put The Finger On You

  • i'm surprised gretsch would put a 0th fret on their guitars any idea if that was malcom's idea? i hear it helps a lot with intonation and stopping fret buzz

  • The 2nd best Guitar ever invented.

  • turn that phaser off

  • man I loce Malcom's tone! It's a clean tone but with a powerfull crunch.

  • I didnt think Malcolm Young was underated ,

  • thats the rock n roll train rythem

  • Malcom Young is sooooooooooooooo underated!!!!!! why?????????

  • I love that sound!!!

  • how did you get that sound , can you tell me the settings

  • I was lucky and tracked down a 2 pickup natural same as this just after they stopped production.I use an Orange dual terror and Orange square 4X12 ( ppc412 ) The tone makes me weep with pleasure.I am an ACDC nut and play in a covers band ( called ' Thunderstruckyork ' though we dont just play DC ) To here this miked up through front of house Pa loud is ' toneheavenoverload' for me.

  • @ykdickybill The Power of the Filtertron eh?. I bought an Electromatic, I ripped the stock pickups out and replaced the bridge with a Filtertron and Ive stripped the paint from it, sound a whole lot better now !!!

  • what are the title of music?

  • you're all stupid.....go put 13 gauge strings on that guitar then see what happens.

  • Comment removed

  • The sound is just too thin. Don't know if it's the mic, maybe you aren't cranking the head, but the bass just isn't breaking.

  • @Gritagris When it's cranked + Bass and Drums, it sounds huge. I hate modern amps and set-ups, they sound big and great in your bedroom, but small and muffled when you're with a band.

  • I use the Gretsch Malcolm Sig 1 HS Filtertron through a 1978 Marshall JMP 1/2 stack w/Presence = 0, Bass = 8, Mids = 5, Treble = 9 to 10, Gain = 8, Master = 10, into a Tom Scholz Power Soak and 6 dB cut. With the Power Soak you can turn the Master Vol. up to fully saturate the 6550 power tubes for moderately dirty gain and not blow people's heads off right in front of your Marshall 4x12 cab.

  • this guitar or sg standard? hmmm OR BOTH LOL

  • @setalaka both definately!

  • the riff sounds like a combo of stiff upper lip and rock n' roll train

  • this guitar is in the music store near me its gorgeous.

  • unfortunately this model is out of production!!! right when I was ready to buy one. :P

  • Gotta love that zero fret, now rip that rhythm pickup out-mal don,t use it either!

  • How much does that guitar cost?

  • @KeeleyDub In Jan - March 2011 the largest Gretsch Dealer in the U.S. blew out Gretsch Malcolm 1 pickups on ebay for $1199 and 2 pickups for $1299. They sold about 28 during that period. Now used Malcolm Sigs in excellent condition are $1600 and even used ones that are beat to hell, are selling for $1000 to $1200. In England and Australia, Gretsch Malcolm Sigs are $2000 and up.

  • sounds a little like ACDC put the finger on you

  • big balls

  • Thanks Mark. From your experience, what amp have you tried at Landers that best articulates Mal's tone? I ask because I have a Gretsch Firebird with a TV Jones Classic Plus in the bridge - Malcolm's guitar tech has been known to order this pickup for some of his guitars.

I'm using a Marshall VM 2266 Combo with JJ KT66's, but I'm always interested in hearing other people's experiences with different amps. Are there any you've played the Gretsch's through that made you say WOW? Thanks

  • @bongerbob From my experience I have found the Malcom Young sound is easiest to get from a Marshall JCM 800 ri on a low gain setting, other people may not agree but that works for me,I too have use the TV jones in my personal Gretsch.

  • @bongerbob get a 45watt marshall plexi, and a marshall cab with 4 25 watts in it

  • Can you please tell me what amp you were running the Malcolm Signature through when you did this clip? Thanks.

  • @bongerbob I was using the a JVM 410 100w Head, on the 'crunch' channel.

  • sounds fat

  • What amp do you use? Very ACDCish sound you're so right I wish I had one of these guitars...

  • i think that that is awesome....and the song sounds like a bluesy improvised Bedlam In Belgium, 1983- Flick Of The Switch.....sweet guitar too

  • I bought one of these last year!!! Loved the sound but I found it incredibly neck heavy. Very uncomfortable to play but then it's all personal preference isn't it!!!

  • i want that guitar soooooooooooooo bad

  • Waoww. I want this guitar :-) Thanks for demo

  • I read somewhere on a webpage that these guitars are semihollow body and only weigh about 5 lbs.. Is that true? I have a Gretsch Double Jet with Badass bridge, Gretsch Electromatic Humbuckers, made in Korea back in 1998 and it weighs in at 10 lbs. and 3 oz. I'm used to really heavy Gibson Les Pauls and 5 lbs. just seens too light.

  • I have this guitar and the only thing that I don't like about this guitar is that the neck is heavier than the body.

  • POWER!!!

  • thats a great guitar, a verry great guitar !

  • Now if you really want to sound like Malcolm...

Hit those strings like they owe you money! hence the need for bigger gauge

  • Needs some heavier strings for that Malcom-style punch in my opinion, but it sounds awesome!

  • hey..thats my guitar..its a verry good guitar

  • nice guitar mark ill be at landers soon in fact tonight see you there!

  • i like mal's guitar...the sound is very good and the song is also very awesome!

    I SALUTE you!

  • Hey Mark,

Very cool man! If I lived in Australia, I'd shop with you! Unfortunately, I'm in Virginia and we've got a Gretsch dealer here. But, for anyone in your neck of the woods who is interested, I've got this very guitar (in red) and it is one of the best instruments I've owned in 30 years of playing. Give Landers Music a call and check it out! You won't be disappointed. . .

  • Yep, that's Mal's sound! How much does that guitar cost? Where can I get one?

  • the riff is from rock n roll train

  • @MrManuACDC no it isnt, deffinetly not!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @123marijn321 I hate to break it to you... but the end of that riff was DEFINITELY ROCK AND ROLL TRAIN

  • @markadiculous oh yeah now i hear, i didn't listen the whole vid first, excuse me! my bad

  • what abt $1500.00 or more lol

  • Great tone! Is there a high action between strings and that bridge pickup?

  • Nice intro, the rest was more sort of Rock n Roll train :D Great guitar.

  • If I played guitar instead of bass, this is what I'd want. Even if it doesn't have the holes from the missing pickups.

  • what song was that??

  • @BROWNANDGIFTED Its just a ACDCish sort of a riff I made up!! Maybe Malcom or Angus might like it.. lol

  • @Landerspromo It sounds like the song has a Stiff Upper Lip influence... Correct?Definatley Rock N' Roll Train at the end also.

  • @BROWNANDGIFTED

hmmmmm Rock 'N Roll Train ?

  • @BROWNANDGIFTED sounded like "put the finger on you" a wee bit and then "highway to hell"-ish towards the end!

  • @BROWNANDGIFTED sounded like "put the finger on you" a wee bit and then "highway to hell"-ish towards the end!

  • @BROWNANDGIFTED rock n roll train

  • @BROWNANDGIFTED I PUT THE FINGER ON YOU AND ROCK N' ROLL TRAIN

  • @BROWNANDGIFTED that song was rock and roll train

  • Does it have a nice FAT neck?

  • @widepass No, medium. A slightly tinner than a 50's style neck of a modern Gibson.

  • theres a few Signature Angus SG models out there, 2 Malcolm Gretsch models, a Phil Rudd Signature Sonor Kit and snare, so is there a Signature Cliff Williams bass?

  • @dal3fan88 There should be a Cliff williams Signature guitar or even a Mark Evans Sig Gibson ripper (re Jail Break film clip)

  • @Landerspromo Ernie Ball Music Man have just started offering a Cliff Williams bass.

  • @dal3fan88 No, there isn't a Cliff signature. The Phil Rudd kit is a piece of shit (so I've been told) and doesn't cut it for a live band. They should go the whole hog with the Gretsch signature, two empty pick up holes, blocked off switches & minimal wiring.

  • Hi...the tone is perfect! Is it made in usa? Thank you!

  • @marcelopampolha Many thanks!!!

  • @marcelopampolha Many thanks!!! The Malcom Young Signatures are made in Japan!! As 99% of Gretsch guitars are now made!!

  • @marcelopampolha 99% of Gretsch Guitars are Made in Japan including the Malcom Young Signature (since the early 1990's

  • @Landerspromo mine was made in china :P id like to have one made in japan.. the japanese luthiers are very meticulous in my opinion.

  • Is that a zero fret? What are they for? i'm guessing better intonation at the first fret.

  • @WoWintosh No more problems from wrong cutted nuts, etc. and open strings ring more clear.

  • what is the name of the first song plz?

  • how come malcolm's only has one pickup?

  • @madhatter534

Since he plays rhythm guitar he doesn't need the neck or middle pickups so he took them out.

  • @WoWintosh So would that be equivalent to putting the first knob on zero?

  • I've decided: i'am gonna get an original 63- Jet Firebird in same colour as Malcolm had one day and modify it exactly like Malcolm did on his, best rythm guitar ever made imo :)

  • I have this guitar in Flamed Maple. Malcolm isn't satisfied with them, but they are actually great, they love to sing. The tone they produce is phenominal, a sort of smokey, mellow, chainsaw crunch that Mal is famous for. They are built extremely well too; solid, light, play like butter. Bottom line, best guitar I've ever played, hands down.

  • you can get this sound with any grestch

  • great fucking sound:D

  • malcoms gretch has 3 but he takes out the neck and middle pick up...he only have the bridge one

  • i have the same guitar.paid 1200 for it.sweet.

  • Ok signature's are nice as hell, no doupt :)

But, i personaly would want to obtain the exactly the same year model he used for the 70s album, modify it in the same way he did, same strings, e.t.c to get as close as possible, if that now is possible, an all original Gretsch, there is some feeling with old originals that modern made guitars simply doesnt have, but replicas/signatures are nice as hell also :D

  • Beautiful machine(:

  • that sounds amazing

  • GREAT!!!! The Sound of Gretsch...

  • Surely it should only have one pickup?

  • @JohnMcClaine1 Yes you are right!! it should only have one pickup!!

  • @Landerspromo but there are 2 pickup and 1 pickup versions actually

  • @Landerspromo what's the name of the first song? plz

  • @JohnMcClaine1 They have 2 models of his signature out, one with one pickup and this one with two.

  • @JohnMcClaine1 at one point it had 3! haha

  • @MrVinc1994 thanks!!, and your english is better than mine!!

  • Friend prune me to say where to obtain this guitar I am very interested in buying it:D

  • what's the name of the song in the beginning?

  • @Guitarjosii

'I put the finger on you' by Ac/Dc, but mixed in with another riff. :)

  • @lgop2nopz many thanks!

  • i got this guitar,red. It's my #1

  • I watched this a couple of days ago, and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since! Man - that sounds fuckin unreal! Its not the old Bon era sound - but you have come pretty darn close to the latest tone Malcolm has on Rock n' Roll Train album. Hey - don't play down your technique when you were playing R&R Train at the end, wow you really nailed the swing and groove that riff has - just like Malcolm. Can I buy that guitar from you? Nice vid!

  • "Icy Daysy" rules ! !

  • Awesome and insane guitar this and an SG is the guitars I want the most in the entire world

  • What amp?

  • The amp was A new Marshall JVM410 100w stack set on the 'crunch-low gain setting

  • @Landerspromo aw man, i hope thats not to do with the clean crunch, i recently bought a marshall combo and its cleancrunch button is broke
