this is just the firework code witch is printed on every leaflet for fireworks and anyway if you make a firework dangerous its you problem but fireworks are only dnagerous if you make em dangerous

I have seen ridiculously small sized retail BS7114 compliant consumer fireworks such as wheels/romancandles/mines/foun­tainsgiven a 25 metre rating but when you use them at that distance-they seem so puny and so tame!!! BUT as a general rule of thumb you should NEVER play russian roulette with Category 3 25m display fireworks in this way NO MATTER HOW SMALL TAME PUNY OR INSIGNIFICANT THEY ARE OR MAY SEEM OR MAY BE. You should use your commonsense and always observe the 25m rating no matter what.

Another good tip is to wear safety glasses/goggles and gloves when lighting fireworks;something can go wrong without warning and debris from fireworks can easily go into the eyes and the gloves protect hands from sparks as the fuse ignites/and the risks of burns from hot firework cases when clearing up afterwards(some spent burnt firework cases can be glowing afterwards and are often too hot to pick up with bare hands).

What I have never understood is the giving of sparklers to children, it is a thermite like composition burning at over 2000 degC.

Much of the bad press fireworks get is the result of illegal trade or misuse.

I remember how firework safety used to be a big thing when I was a kid. Didn't see any ads about it on the TV this year - I hope kids are still being taught the dangers!
