@ericala25 Because you cancel out the two 3x squared and you are left with -15x and -21x together they make

-36x. So you have -36x = 72 you divide -36 by 72 and you get -2. Hope I helped, I'm rubbish at explaining things!

I disagree with the bad teaching comment. It is very hard for me to deal with number with my disability, and this time I was able to understand.

My suggestion to all those people critizing, " If you do not understand, go back a couple of times, so you could engage into this exercises. Try to do it by yourself if u understand a little bit, and then compare it to hers.

Be patient with this subject. It does not happen overnight to MASTER.
