  • I love Sutton sooo much!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jamesgardell2... Actually, she has amazing control over her voice, which is why she can make it sound "nasal" or whatever the role requires. If you listen to her solo CD, she sounds very different from this.

  • @KingTinac And the audio quality is horrible in this clip. Look to the menu on the right and you will find the same one with clear audio. She has a forward placed voice here that is perfect for this, one of the great new American Songbook songs Tesori and Scanlon wrote for the broadway production and Sutton debuted.

  • she's an amazing singer, though personally I have grown to dislike the character millie. I was in this show before it was canceled bc of lack of cast (I was Flannery u/s Millie) and I noticed in the script how selfish and annoying millie is. She seems to care about no one but herself and her rediculous plan that is neither wise nor thoroughly modern. This actress is amazing, but the character she plays is not one of my favorites. Jimmy is sooo much cooler!

  • Sutton Foster is Millie.

  • Kinda wishing I was Sutton Foster right now

  • If I turn the sound off It seems like she's singing a mournful/angry ballad.... like "On My Own" or something.

  • hey everyone! i sang this song! check my webpage!!! and for good!

  • she's the best at playing millie.

    ever

  • She needs to let her eye brows grow back a bit. She sounds wonderful tho

  • I <3 Sutton Foster

  • i wish shed do more than just stand there and look around a bit but her vocals are spectacular :)

  • @shapeprincess...

Well, in the opening bars her character is supposed to feel overwhelmed and dwarfed by the big city, so 'just standing there' works... also it was pretty windy on the plaza that morning and the bottom half of her dress is cut on the bias , so... (and she's not on Home Box Office!)...

  • the fact that the quality sucks in this makes it sound even better. like it's actually from the 20s

  • well say what you want about her but she's got more fame and more credit then what you got buddy.

  • and i know that and i can say what i want and she has more than you too "buddy"

  • THAN THAN THAN THAN THAN

  • actually i gotta agree :S

  • I absolutely love Sutton Foster! My school did this musical this past spring, I had the role of Jimmy! haha and on the practice CD I listened more to Millie's songs more than Jimmy's cuz I love Sutton Fosters voice

  • Aw, I love Sutton.

  • I want to marry Sutton Foster

  • hahaha

  • bahahaha

  • not since 2007 he isnt xD

  • actually now he's dating laura bell bundy

  • i LOVE this song!!

  • um why is it like muffled. it is so hard to hear!

  • Sutton Foster is so adorable!

    Is she not?

  • This seems really fast. I don't know why. Still great though!

  • she looks so young! but, she still is amazing!!

  • why does the audience look so bored? she's flipping outstanding!

  • this is my favorite song in the entire musical

  • She looks so young here! She's outstanding.

  • It doesn't matter what role she's doing, she always ALWAYS owns it. She's so in tune with her characters, it's like she's practiced these roles since she was eleven.

I wish everyone could do that, mainly me :P Lol.

    I love Sutton!!

  • sutton foster is brilliant. she communicates her songs with passion which reaches out to my heart.

  • oh my GOSH!!!

    I flippin LOVE her voice!

  • Her acting throughout the whole song is wonderful, it's like she's seeing a whole, different world. :)

  • It upsets me to see everyone in the audience looking uninterested. She's amazing, I only wish I could see her perform!

  • Sutton Foster is really, really pretty. I wish I looked like her. :)

  • *amazingly

  • Ooh! I'm singing this in two week for a recital, I hope I do well! Sutton Foster sings this really alazingly^^, but I think she could take it a tad slower. Lovely voice!

  • amazing! sutton foster is truly talented. i hope to see her perform live one day. i love this freakin show. the music is beautiful.

  • theres another verse on her thats not on the cd, but she is the greatest singer.

  • yeah and it's a shame because i love that extra verse!

  • the "extra verse is actually is in the reprise of this song if you look on the cd"

  • Yeah, but not all of it though. Just the "Days of yore, kind and gentle, etc."

  • actually I am pretty sure they were in the original version of the song when the play first came out

  • Yea, the extra verse is from the original, were using it in our version of thoroughly modern millie, i think its a pretty good verse too =]

  • The extra verse is in the Thoroughly Modern Millie vocal selections book and the end of it is in the reprise.

  • she certainly is glamorous isn't she?

  • Her weave is jacked up! Aww lol. Poor baby, having to sing out in the open and cold. I love this woman.

  • God that voice just flows right out of her.

Pardon me while I go hurl out the jealousy building up in my stomach.

  • amen!!

  • Wow that's graphic! I think just simple applause would suffice.

  • Love her, and love that song (heck, I love the whole show). The only problem was the audio was not very clear. But still worth watching! :)

  • shes a professional,

    shes not looking nervous

    its the character

millie is a small town girl

    living in new york

    der.

  • this woman is an incredible talent....what a rude comment matonad44! you're officially ignored too:)

  • what show is this from?

  • Thoroughly Modern Millie

  • You try doing this 8 time a week!

  • that is sutton foster! lol how could you think it wasn't? it is so obviously sutton. but she looks kinda different, i guess.

  • does she have a microphone there?how did her voice carry so far over the traffic otherwise?

  • Is it just me, or does she look different? Or is this even Sutton Foster? Maybe it's just my poor eyesight.

  • I agree, she looks...strange. For example her teeth are spread apart more. WERID!! lol

  • I don't think it's even her. Maybe it's Susan Egan, although I'm really not familiar with her.

  • No, it's definitely Sutton.

  • I agree. Before, I was just going on looks, since I've been having some trouble with my sound system. But her voice sounds exactly like Sutton so, ignore me. Carry on...

  • ok uve been ignored.

  • thats deffinately not susan egan susan is like 5'3" and her voice is totally different

  • It's Sutton Foster!!!!! You know, the one who originated the role? I don't mean to nitpick, I''m just a massive Sutton fan!

  • I definatly know that is Sutton foster, you have def. not scene my profile... she is my idol and I am not saying it was, i am correcting someone who asked if it was susan egan.... :/

  • oops, sorry!

  • whoever said that obviously didn't look at the title of the video.

  • It is sutton foster.

  • Of course it's Sutton Foster.

  • There was somebody saying that its not sutton.

  • Yeah. lol I think it's pretty obvious, I was just agreeing with you.

  • Oh ok.

  • How could it not be her?haha. Like they get a double on the Early show.? haha

  • She's not intimidated...she's just soaking it all in like "Oh wow, NYC...I'm finally here." It's more like that.

  • the comment made about intimidation (not a dig...just a "clarification" you got the effect of intimidation because...she just arrived in NYC for the first time and she was...well...intimidated.

  • wat was th point of that lol y th hell is she goin on random mornin shows? waste of time only old ladies goin aw

  • I LOVE YOU for putting these up.

  • She did well, that was the song and the reprise combined right? Why did she hardly move? I'm not expecting anyone to answer don't worry.

  • i noticed that... at first i though maybe she was intimidated? but then i remembered shes a well known broadway star... theres no such thing as intimidation for her lol

  • no, it wasn't the song and the reprise. that's the whole song. the second verse just isn't on the cd. it's in the sheet music though. idk why it's not on the cd. and she hardly moved in the actual show too. it' just the way the song is. it's not meant to have too much movement.

  • Exactly, singergrl2. And just look at her- she doesn't NEED to move around while she sings this song, she has the most amazing presence even just standing there :)

  • this is the part of the play when she first comes to the big city, she's in amazement of the city, shy and scared.

  • It's called acting - so many people over do it because they think they have to - sometimes its what you don't do that makes it good

  • i love whoever is putting all these up!!!

  • She makes singing seem so effortless :P

  • Never heard those words before :P thanks fo the post!
