@Keesfarida Thanks Kees man deze heb ik lang niet meer gespeeld, wel een te gekke Jazz Standard, moet hem weer eens doorspelen, groetjes en fijn dat je ook van mijn oudere werk geniet,Vic.
Wow.... thank you so much! At age 55 I went back to school- Berklee (on-line and fantastic). My lesson for this week is this tune- was looking for inspiration and found it!!- you are a cat- hope I can get to where you are someday.
@Bbm7b5b9 Thanks, great you went back to school, never too old to learn and remember the learning process goes on in the next life as well,LOL, just kidding man,Vic.
@bam009bam Thanks Josh, good Jazz playing takes determination and lots of time, study all arpeggios, scales of this tune then start composing melodic solo's of your own using this material, listen to how other players approach such tunes, learn to steal from them and make these Ideas your own by rehearsing them, don't expect instant gratification in time it will come,Vic.
Hi Chicago, have a look between my already placed Video's on my channel they are there, West Coast Blues, Four on Six, etc enjoy yourself, greetings vic.
Good, keep it real and easy to hear and not so outside the box it makes little sense. Impressive b/c you don't try hard to impress. Keep it up as the rest learn from the rest
Thanks Brian,it's like you say:I'm not playing to impress,I'm playing what I hear inside, and if people are impressed that's OK but certainly not my goal, naturalism is, playing from the inside-out(Zen) greets Vic.
Thanks so much Allen, much appreciated from a good player like you, I used to have ensemble lessons in Jazz from an American trumpet player, Charles Green,he always said: memorize the chord structure as quick as you can and you'll feel much freer instead of staring at sheet-music all the time, that was an eye opener for me,greets Vic.
Of all your tunes, so far this is the one I like the best..I keep trying to watch you play a couple notes and stop it,to see what you are playing, but can't keep up with it..Im still crawling on jazz guitar, but won't give up..Keep up the great tunes Victor...Paul, Ga. USA
Thanks boney, keep going manyou know the persistent wins, Jazz is a complex and difficult Art-form that slowly will reveal itself, thanks for your comment, greets Vic.
Hi Ark thanks, live I use a small Mini-Brut 3 from "Polytone" and my guitar is a Ibanez GB-20 (taken out of production now but you still can purchase the GB-10) initial concept by George Benson, very fine instruments, glad you enjoyed, greetings Victor.
Hi rgn39, yeah Fred is a very good friend and great player, and you're damn right they don't make those compositions like that anymore, success with the playinglist, all the best Victor.
I've played a lot of this song in the past, but after a break, this sounds nice again. Currently been doing a transcription this solo of yours. Take it as a compliment! =)
Hi Villepoh, ofcourse I take it as a compliment(what else),a fine guitarist like yourself makin transcriptions of my improvisations. Makes me think of the days I did it from Joe Pass and Wes Montgommery, recently I just always improvise, all the best my friend,Vic.(check out my "So What"tell me what you think).
Thank you, well what scales? Well it boils down to Major(Es), E melodic-minor over Es7(altered sound) and octotonic here and there. I might use Cmi harmonic on Dm7b5 to G79- to Cmi. That's what I basicly use, greets Vic.
Well thank you, what I do it is learn the melody(theme) and the chords just basically. then jam on the form trying to keep your flow of ideas going(don't stop). Keep your tempo slow in the beginning. Later you can compose a nice chord-melody arrangement like I did here. Ofcourse it's important to learn your basics real good, those are your Tools. Succes Amigo,Vic.
Thanks for the advice Vic, i really appreciate it. I was wondering, have you worked up the Isham Jones song There is No Greater Love? Thanks again for your reply!
Victor , tks for nice comment on my video ,from a very good player like you is a real compliment!your version is a very good work, bravo! what do you use for backing tracks?
Thanks, I use a "Band in a Box" program and I use a Roland Soundcanvas Soundmodule for the sounds. keep posting man you got it in your fingers, greets Vic.
A great compliment from a music lover,or should I say Jazzlover, 15 versions is a lot, obviously you didn't get bored because you love the tune very much, great to have you on my channel, have a listen to my other work,I'll be hearing from you ,greetings Victor.
This is definitely one of my favorite standards. I'm curious though, at the end of the A section, have you tried doing a false ii-V (f#m7>B7>fm7>Bb7)? You can use it in a chord melody and it makes for great lines when soloing. Good work regardless.
Your suggestion sounds interesting I'll experiment with it, Wes M did those halfstep progressions alot and they often sound very good, thanks greetings Victor.
Thanks a lot Fred,I'll be looking out for your new tunes, hope you get a nice alternative little mixer to work with that would give you a great Sound,I'm also enjoying Youtube meeting all my Jazzfriends, greetings Victor.
Hoi Vic ik kom nog ff van dat moppie genieten, swingt als een trein joh, groetjes van the Baddest guitarcat of the Netherlands ha ha ha ,Kees.

A very good staple of jazz. I really like your impression of it.
I have been trying my hand at playing it for sometime now and i have hit a road block to say the least.
Do you think you can give a beginner some tips?

Victor,
Great harmony. Very nice tempo. Smooth and melodic improv. I can hear the melody from within your improv. That's what makes it so musical.
Well done,
