"its kinda like a future computer describeing the average human being"
Future?
I interpret the monotone as representing the deadness inside of people who buy the mainstream consumerist bureaucratic poison tripe*. In general the song has a similar sort of message to Fight Club's, actually.
I was tempted to post the lyrics of this song on the window of LuLu Lemon's Kitsilano location when they had their big "The Secret"-inspired display about getting what you want by obsessing over it. 2007-ish.
They're the kind of liberal, alternative, progressive, enlightened left-coast establishment that might tried to get the cops to pick me up for doing so, though.
Btw for those who havent noticed: The background voice in loop repeats the words 'This is the Panic Office, section nine-seventeen may have been hit. Activate the following procedure.'.
you know, listening to this alot lately it starts to make a bit of sence, its kinda like a future computer describeing the average human being... (also it implies that we will be slaves to our own technology (pig in cage)) or thats my idea.
We read Fahrenheit 451 in class and our teacher played this.

In your description, you say that no one understands this masterpiece. I do hope that isn't true.

Isn't there one word to describe living a life that's like pré-programmed?

if you don't understand...
it's the way americans live,
it's a convienent lie.
they think being wealthier or fitter will lead them to happiness but it just brings the big guys higher and the small guys lower.
no one's ever satisfied.
in my view, it's kinda saying, modern happiness isn't true happiness,
it's just a lie...
b/c in the end no one's enlightened.
u can't find happiness blending into this society,
it just doesn't work.

Radiohead are true and genuine music geniuses and this piece of music/prose is proof of that.
Five Stars++++ for the video, incredibly effective.

well, i can't see how the song is hard to understand :/
considering the one listening is a fan of radiohead the lyrics should be quite clear.

My English teacher played this for us in school. It's hard to capture at first, but it does make sense after a while
