Can you cite documents to support these claims (ie. that only the Church was permitted to pass laws, etc.). Please only documents published by the Catholic Church. Those published by anti-Catholic people/ organizations could be a mis-information scam.
@cpmondello I also just remembered that during the Inquisition, there are documented cases of people blaspheming God the Father in secular court so their cases would be handed over to the Church. The Church actually had a reputation for being MORE FAIR in their adjudication then civil courts.

With Google anyone can throw up a webpage with no verification of just how reliable the resources are. Yes, my resource is a Catholic priest who also has a PhD in history. I would sooner trust that then some unknown through Google.
