Hasn't the Mac got anything similar to Notepad built in? There are slight tweaks, but can't see it being much more productive than a simple text editor (in full screen mode, if you want to minimise distractions).
can you change the typography? because I always see the same one and it doesn't really suit every type of writing, so I don't get the feel. I write fiction, by the way, which app would you recommend I get? thanks!
@Jonalexher Unfortunately you cant change the typography, it might be worth looking at Ommwriter Dāna ii or Byword in the App Store as they both have more options available for typography and general look and feel. They are all very similar apps but there are small differences that might make those the perfect typing experience for you. Hope that helps!

@blahdelablah Actually Text Edit has become a nice basic word processor. Nothing fancy, but more flexible than most of theese other apps.
