  • I'm not enjoying my Linux experience :c I think I need a friend that uses linux to help me out and go on this journey with me. Anybody here? :c I'm sing Backtrack 5

  • cool

  • im looking for how to do it from the terminal, this is bullshit

  • This video is outdated and is only for ubuntu 10.04 and lower. The new update doesnt not require this process

  • Great, thanks!!

  • HSAUHSAUSA My main problem was solved by: 1:30 1:40...

    You're the papa genius!!!

  • nice job but for us newbies you went way too fast and I needed more explanation

  • so simple, lol. Thanks for the video.

  • it didn't work! y? i can see the application but they won't open!!!!!

  • @hephzibam maybe my tar.gz file is the prob........ i'm trying to download floola or yamipod.......... they won't work. even after i did this. someone pls direct me to video that shows how to do this same thing but for newer versions of linux like 10.10 PLS!!!! thank you! :D

  • @lIEAIl hahah, hes a wog

  • are you ok?

  • yu@tubepoop: Download and click install= done, then need to pay because was a trial, then a virus gets into the pc, then screws up the HD, then needs a new HD, then with the new HDD you need a new windows, Then need to install everything again, then you are going to download the file again and GUESS what, you go back to the beginning of this post, I'm also a windows user but benefis from linux are the bomb, nothing compared with the "pay for everyting" trash on windows xD

  • @blodyfist Thats why you need to actually need to be careful about downloading and installing everything you see on the internet and actually use a anti-virus other than windows defender and norton.....

  • @YU2tubepoop ubuntu es para gente que no cree en tonterias de pagar cosas que de por si deberia ser gratis

  • Seems Outdated.

  • How about using a terminal?

  • @C0ckneyReject Because most of us cant stand to use terminal. I spent 3 or so hours trying to find a tutorial about this that does not use terminal.

  • @TheNamminamm Oh man, that is sooooo depressing......maybe go back to window eh? ;-/

  • thanks

  • I check and drag and dropping install.sh into a terminal (being root) seems to work as well.

  • w0w

  • I did this on 11.04 and nothing happened. What am I doing wrong?

  • @Jakobby93 This tutorial was done on 10.04 or older version, so it might be a bit outdated

  • Impossible to understand anything. More time is dedicated to googling downloading the file and exactly process of exactly installation showed quickly.

  • Great!!!

Now my process of saying goodbye to Windows is one step further to complete...

I'm sending this to anyone I know who might be wondering about the same process. This video almost single-handedly makes the switch from Windows to Ubuntu flawless!

  • I did exactly as you did but I get this error:

Failed to execute child process "/home/marco/Songbird/songbird" (Permission denied)

  • thanks so much! You save me..

  • WOW

    Thanks man !

  • DUDE, thanks ALOT!!!!

  • Thankyou budd! yeh to the point.

  • thanks you solved my problem!

  • what ubuntu theme is that?

  • Very simple and right to the point. Thanks for the help. SongBird working just great!!

  • im trying to install 7-zip and whe i extracted i got 4 folders do i just put them all into one or something

  • im using mint. it cant work on it . how to install .tar.gz on linux mint.

  • ther is no songbird for ubuntu 10.10 !

  • Ur a nerd lol...Btw get gnome do it'll make life easier...:P

  • Thanks. I'm gonna try it. Been trying to get Realtek HD audio Manager for Ubuntu. Trying it now.

I thought you had to go into terminal do all kinds of stuff I didn't understand. Only been using Ubuntu for just over a month.

  • hey nice! Does this also works with drivers cuz my netbook's manufacturer has some .tar.gz drivers available for download on it's website?

  • oh, fuck!

    thank you! very very much!

    :D

  • I'm using Mint, but I thought this might work because it's also derived from Debian. And I was fine for a while - even found the "Edit Menu" option. But then I got to the "browse" part and didn't know what to select; there's no file with the same name as the application in that folder. Oh well...

  • You'll see a Songbird file, EXTRACT IT

  • Nice tutorial! I'm installing linux on my old desktop computer right now and I'm not really familiar with it :P

  • thank you a lot!

  • thank you very much. this helps a lot.

  • It doesn't work for me :\ When I try to open the file when adding it to the menu, it just opens whats inside the songbird file, instead of just using the sonbird file

  • Thank you so much!

  • When you browse for the command at 1:50 you click on songbird and "songbird again". But often tar.gz files do not contain a file with he same name as the folder... in that case what one do you click?

  • OMG you have done in 2:23 minutes what the whole Internet wasn´t able to do in three days: teaching me HOW THE HELL to install .tar.bz2 files!!!

i am subscribing to your channel ;)

  • man i owe you big time...but i'll pay it off by subscribing :)

  • I spent an hour or so scrolling through forum after forum, becoming more and more cross-eyed with every post I read.

Within 5 minutes of watching this video I installed all three applications I wanted (Sunbird, Thunderbird and Celtx).

EXCELLENT WORK, buddy. You're a life saver!

  • o___o PLEASE TELL ME HOW YOU MADE YOUR PANAL SEE THROUGH

  • @ajboomboom5 Right click the panel. Then click Properties. Then Click on Background. Then you will see it says None and Solid Color. Click on Solid color and slide the bar to the Left.

  • sweet but what about the theme? i want to keep the theme but not have it effect the panel since my panel is half blue now =/

  • I know but the transparent panel only work with the original theme or some themes
