You're not supposed to run a brush across like that when applying the epoxy resin. It distorts the weave resulting in an unappealing carbon fiber hood. You're supposed to dab the epoxy on when working on the first sheet of carbon fiber. After your first sheet you can then use the brush to squeeze the epoxy around. The less epoxy you use, the strong the part.
no, carbon fiber cloth is made of almost entirely pure carbon. the stuff that we usually see decomposing is carbon combined with other elements such as hydrogen, oxygen, etc. this stuff lasts.

carbon fiber boot lids and bonnets are most of the time carbon fiber ovr fiberglass. About 90%+ of the time. The carbon fiber hoods that cost 4-5G are FULL carbon fiber.. and VERY hard to find.
OK, I concede that it is probably a mold. I looked at other vids too from them and, yes, it looks like 100% carbon fiber. My only question now is what are the rolls I see on the bench at 2.47? Looks like e-glass, but it's probably white carbon fiber, huh? I don't know what they would need e-glass for in a carbon fiber shop... unless they are using it to fill the back for strength, and using the carbon fiber for a top coat, like what is usually done.
good catch at 2.47. It probably is eglass. I mean these guys aren't building f1 cars, so they may add glass to their parts. There isn't such a thing as white carbon fiber. Unless a company advertises 100% carbon parts, there isn't a huge reason to expect it. An all carbon piece would be much stronger than one mixed with glass, but the cost is prohibitive, especially for the street rodder that just wants the carbon "look".
carbon is always black. You can not dye carbon. If anything is advertised a colored carbon it is a lie. As far as the glass, every carbon shop has fiberglass. We make our molds from it, use it on plugs, and also on prototypes.
kevlar...this is an expensive piece....by using two different fibers you get to capitalize on the advantages of each one...you even hear him say kevlar....
you are mistaken. that orange part is not a oem hood, it is a negative mold. These guys are making full carbon fiber parts here of very high quality. They will bond that section to the top part of the hood shown earlier in the clip to make it more rigid
@nfin8one You know, there is stupid costumers that want some kind of cool decoration ( waste i agree ) but the guys is doing there job good................!!!

hey i have a question... were can i learn to make Carbon Fiber Parts... like is there a school for that?? or something???... im very interested in it,.
im assuming it weights less than the original RX8 trunk. did you have to make a new RX8 trunk or ? are you using the original trunk. i mean i don't get it, is that the original orange RX8trunk. how does it work. i tought carbon fiber was molded like plastic. kinda like the fiber glass they use in NASCAR cars.
Safety is obviously not a concern in this shop, if you know these people, tell them that they need to wear dust masks when cutting carbon fiber, as well a respirator which protects from organic vapors when handling the resin.

I assume you dont know much about carbon fiber.
Its obvious, everyone who works with carbon fiber can tell the same, so dont denie it.
We work 100% real carbon fiber.
We dont mix our carbon with fiberglass of use the fake chinese stuff.
Thats why our rear wing is strong enough to handle the weight of 2 women on it.
Your comment was with very light thinging.
We are here for any info you need to know about CF.
