Zidane = best player ever, but shittest movie ever....what is up with the camera work? id rather see zidane skills than zidanes shins and feet........
to sum this up in 3 words.... SHITTEST FILM EVER...
maybe get a match that could be more interesting and a better player like ronaldo... or someone who sees more of the ball... i'd enjoy this film if this was the match where he got sent off for the amazing headbutt :L anyone agree
@lmay0593 oh my god.. u mean that christiano ronaldo.. he is just an ordinary player who knows only to cheat rather than do some skills.. all he can do is to score a large no of goals against small teams.. and got his ass kicked in every world cup.. this is a team game not a solo show..
why is that? zidane is better than ronaldo and messi both, ronaldo two times fifa player of the year, messi one time but zidane is three times and he retired at the age of 33, he could have won more titles...
c'mon guys. "Zidane better than Ronaldo and Messi " and craps like this. Zidane was one of the best football players in the history of the game, maybe the best but you cannot compare him to Ronaldo or Messi. Why? Not because Messi and Ronaldo are better ( i think Zidane is the best) but because they have different attributes in the team. Zidane was a kind of attacking midfielder, playmaker.
The story line??! The camera carefully follows the great man around the pitch for 90 minutes... When seen from this altered perspective, the football match takes on new meaning, perhaps as a metaphor for life itself. rofl
@fred4140 thats why he selfishly got himself kicked out of the italy vs france world cup final match? hes great but hes not greatest or even better than ronaldo luis. zidane even said he looked up to ronaldo in an intereview. look it up on youtube. and messi (22) is too young to be compared to anyone prior to his time yet!
the greatest would have controlled his temper only to win the match and forever go down in the history books with the the trophy credited to his country and the last laugh!!!
@ZADL11 When somebody like Zidane says things like that (I mean: looking up to Ronaldo), it's generally a sign of true modesty, and sometimes a little lack of self-confidence. Ronaldo himself said that he was honoured to play with Zidane, Beckham said it too as well as all those who had the opportunity. Zidane's biggest idol is Maradona, and Maradona is everything but an example to follow! Anyway I still love Maradona, Zidane and Pelé among others, their legacy to football is immense.
@oliverecords of course it shows modesty, class, character etc. but maybe he is being honest. sometimes, when someone has truly worked for everything they have received and has made more major contributions to not only his own country, but for whole the game itself, you can't help but to admit your inferiority.
@oliverecords maybe it's not even fair to compare ronaldo luis to zidane, in the sense that they played in different positions. but if you're comparing the overall talent and every positive skill one man could have, ronaldo wins hands down.
@oliverecords if you're considering every possible threat a player can oppose on another team, ronaldo had it ALL. size (ronaldos physical statue in his prime > any defender in front of him), top speed, field vision, creativity, footwork, ball control, elusiveness, unpredictability, muscle strength, shot accuracy, shot power etc. i can go on and on.
@ZADL11: if you're such a Zidane hater why are you here on a Zidane video?? if i dislike someone or something i generally avoid them and/or places where their accomplishments are celebrated. Give it a rest already and go away...stay away from all Zidane related areas.
@riverrocks dude, you can't read to save your life. i acknowledge that zidane is great. i truly think he is ONE of the greatest to play the game, but he is not THE GREATEST. i am simply explaining why ronaldo luis is the greatest because he won more world cup trophies and contributed far more to the game than zidane did. no matter how big of a zidane fan anyone is in here, you have to admit that him not being able to control his temper in the final was not characteristic of THE GREATEST! selfish
the reason why zidane is greater in my opinion is because zidane is a complete player. I love ronaldo too but the fact is the without speed ronaldo is not effective. Ronaldo's 33 right now and highly unlikely to play in this world cup. Zidane was 35 and controlled the entire french attack in 06. Zidane is a complete player and is better in my opinion because even when his athleticism is weak because of his age he still dominated, whereas many other players are nothing without there speed.
@oliverecords remember, the main objective in any sport is to score as many points or in this case goals and WIN, which ronaldo was MUCH better at and has many records in different categories that most likely wont be touched for a very long time or ever at all.
don't get lost in a players style or image like most uneducated fans do. it's about who can win the most. everything else is just a distraction.
Hi! Well, I must say that in the first place I don't like the concept of competition, even if I know sport is about competition.
Zidane, Ronaldo and all great champions have learned to win but what distinguishes them from the others is their sense of the GAME, and of the beauty of it.
Then I don't understand your using the word "inferiority". Zidane has won everything. Ronaldo has too. They are very different and both are exceptionnal players.
One of Maradona's biggest idols was the boxer Carlos Monzon - a beast of a man who murdered his wife in a horrific manner. I saw an interview once where Maradona was being all glib about that incident - he actually laughed about it. What the hell does that say about Maradona? Since ZADL11 is so determined to undermine Zizou's accomplishments (could he be related to Materazzi??) and finds fault w/ everything ZZ does what would he make of Maradona's Monzon fixation??
@zadl11: spare us the sanctimony and get off your high horse you self absorbed fetus. Go out into the world first before you ever pass judgment on the great man. Zidane is a LEGEND. 4 years on and nobody give's a rat's ass about Italy - nobody respects Italy but everyone still loves Zidane - except of course the racists and the haters.
@riverrocks you fail to understand my point. zidane is great, but he is not the GREASTEST to play the game like others on this page think. i am not an italy fan and don't care who played france in the final. the greatest is measured by his world cup trophies and contributions to the game. ronaldo won the world cup in 1994, 2002 and runner-up in 1998. he also holds many, many records that still stand. one of which is for most goals in a single season (47 goals in 49 games) ronaldo is the greatest
saw it yesterday on ARTE and it was so fascinating. at first sight its "just" like cameras following zidane while he is playing football. but the whole ambience with the crowd an the fact that there is no commentator makes you fell like you are on the field. then they insert written comments from zidane, was he was thinking as child and what he feels when he is out on the field and stuff. combined with MOGWAI... boy... get the DVD and watch it!
Darius Khondji, the DP or Se7en, Delicatessen, The Beach and The Ruins lensed the film. It was quite remarkable how he did it. He employed the worlds best sports camera operators, had the US military develop special 300X zoom lenses. A total of 17 cameras were used inside the stadium including Super 35mm and Super 16mm and i think 2 Panavision HD cameras. I want to see this film, i love portrait movies like this that follow an athlete.
I saw this movie tonight, amazing! to me, it was all about anticipation. For casual fans, it is anticipation that eventually, Zidane will do more than walk. On the other hand, for us hardcore fans, it is the anticipation in knowing that all around Zidane, there is action, it is only a matter of time before he joins the fray and shows what makes him one of the best of all time.
depends where you are - the movie is now on DVD in most countries and can also be seen in some major art galleries - it was in the cinema last year in most countries
