@tylergeea There's no 'right' length, just depends on what you want to do and your own personal tastes. I like mine at about ankle height when my arms are relaxed, so I've got enough length for through-wraps. In my opinion, unless you're doing throws, longer is always better, because you have to option of shortening them if they're too long, but you can't lengthen short poi.
You know what's funny, I didn't get how to turn with the three beat weave when you taught it, but I figured this variation out randomly (the first variation) and suddenly I could turn...
It happens, the variations, particularly the flower ones allow for greater control and awareness of the poi and their movements, quite a few times I haven't been able to do a move, then, upon learning a completely different move or variation, the move I was originally having troubles with clicks into place.
