People are asking about the candelabra Gene had on his side of the stage in the early days. I believe I read once another of the stunts the band did very early on involved him throwing flash powder into the candelabra, which cause fireballs to shoot out the other side. Apparently, he only did this a few times, because one time, one of the fireballs hit someone in the face. The guy apparently wasn't hurt badly, but his hair and eyebrows were singed.

The stage, the spikes, all point to being mid-1975 to early 1976. This was on the Dressed to Kill tour or Alive tour, it did not occur in 1973. The date in the video refers to the show KISS played at the Academy of Music on 12/31/73, not this show. This most likley happened at Cobo Arena in Detroit.  There is a pro-shot version of the same show where Gene spits twice and ends up on fire himself, just like here.

This clip is from no earlier than sometime in 1975 on the Dressed To Kill Tour, to any time as late as March,1976 when KISS finished up the first leg of the Destroyer Tour in Europe (wearing the Dressed To Kill/Alive outfits). Notice Gene's outfit, especially the spikes which were not present on him in 1973 or 1974. This clip is from a show sometime in 1975, not from the Academy Of Music show on 12/31/73. Sorry dude.

It must just be SO freaky to be on fire it doesn't really even enter into your reality for a few seconds because it's beyond belief! KISS had always put alot of risks in the show and they do deserve to be compensated for their lives in ticket prices. I am not sure how that happened but I do know that the NYC fire marshalls prohibited Kiss from using anything with open flames on stage. They were also involved in a law suit when a prop flash paper shooter went off and the paper popped someone in the eye. It went further then expected. Fire and KISS don't mix

@ecrocker1 You are correct (as I also understand) about this but at the same time, no matter how much planning and research you do on pyrotechnics and use of fire in entertainment their will always be a risk. Pyrotechnic shows have been greatly researched greatly improved with better precision and control and KISS works with the best for their type of show. As long as you are prepared for ANYTHING pyrotechnics can be used in a entertaining and safe manner.
