LOL. I dont' think Eastgate is at Stu Ungar's level but Eastgate definitely has LOT of potential and he's much more respectable poker than any other past main events we've had for past 7 years. Stu was the youngest ever when he won. Eastgate is also the youngest ever when he won.

Joe Hachem wasnt to bad, Jerry Yang and Jamie Gold were annoyingly lucky throughout the tournament and will probably never be heard from again in the poker world....not that i'm complaining, i hate jamie gold with a passion, moneymaker wasnt much of a champion either

It's annoying to hear people say "Eastgate got lucky" or Eastgate is a lucker. Besides AK vs AQ against Chino Rheem where Eastgate sucked out, there's not a single hand where Eastgate got lucky. But Eastgate had to call with his AQ against Rheem's AK because Rheem was short-stacked and Eastgate had him covered 8 times. Eastgate is a good player. But Yang and Gold were annoying lucky and fucking pricks, suckouts after suckouts throughout whole table.

They both placed all of their money into the pot during PRE-FLOP, you know, the hand where Eastgate deserved to WIN anyways since pocket 6s are better than Ace 3. And Eastgate didn't even care if he lost that hand since he was faced with an all-in bet from a short-stacked donk. It was Montgomery who was lucky to hit his Aces from the start.

You analysis is way off. In heads up poker you're not as likely to assume your opponent "hit" and bluffs become significantly more likely. Raising with ace high was stupid, and the flush was causious because it was a low flush...odds that your opponent was also carrying a flush is not likely, but caution was expected. The last hand played out exactly how it should have...two pair vs. a straight. No one called all in with "nothing" so your first comments is just plain stupid.

Eastgate is lot more skilled than half of any past champs from 6 years to now. I see much more potential skills in Eastgate than donks like Jerry Yang, Jamie Gold, Varkonie, Moneymaker. Hachem and Raymer proved that they are decent and can keep upto their reputation by winning other major bracelet while raymer ranked high in following year's main event.
