@CesarMill498 Actually Joe Egan was lip-synching to the vocal track that was actually performed by Rafferty. Rafferty had left the band at that point, and the video was made without him.
This is such a great song, but this obvious European audience looks as though they think it's one big yawn fest. This is WHY the EU will never work! NO TASTE IN MUSIC!!!
A lot of audiences back in the late 1960's to the 1970's seemed dull. They didn't appreciate what the good music they had back then. If all those deadbeat audience could be time transported 35 years into the future and find out what garbage of music the world has they would be more lively grateful and lively appreciative of the music they are listening to in their present time instead of looking like of bunch of deadbeat borish dopes!
@BBQFanNo1 ---- the audiences from the 60s and 70s were exposed to so much great creative and varied music during those times that in hindsight we all took those artists and performances for granted -- That's what we knew!! You can't blame the audiences back then -- I agree it's hard to understand what fans get from today's artsts and music- it's all image, hype, cookie cutter synthetically produced now---- ANYBODY can become a celebrity artist today!
@roselandalvin What a cliché... There are a lot of good music in our days. And even more creative and varied than in the 70s. In fact this is so varied that TV and radio don't know what to play and are stuck with the same bullshits since a decade now.
really good song. I remember thinking this would be a big hit. I don't think it sustained but as far as I am concerned it is in the top 100 of the 70s.
@connielou29 Had this gotten more air time on the radio in the 70's when it was released, there is no doubt this would have been up there with "Stuck in the middle with you". Arguably, I think "Star" is a better tune. Definitely one of Stealers Wheel's best. They were a great band. Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty continued to work together even after Gerry went solo and Joe sang on some of Gerry's music throughout his solo career. They remained friends for quite a few years.
@richard1963c I agree. Had it gotten more airtime than it did, again, I think it would have surpassed "Stuck in the middle with you" in popularity. I wish Gerry Rafferty had continued his career later in life. He slacked off dramatically after the mid 1990's and doesn't do anything anymore. He's pretty much fully retired at this point and it's well known he had some health related issues later in life. It would be awesome if he and Egan would do "Stealers Wheel" REUNION SHOW!
Interesting live vocals. I wish they didn't feel they had to sing over the record, tho. It would've been nicer if they just played it straight. But yeah, great song, and it's one of life's greatest unjustices that more people don't know Egan's name.
@joevs21001 I agree. It's too bad Gerry Rafferty is no longer around. He was an underappreciated singer. With his stint with Stealers Wheel and solo work, he did some great music.
@conor30000 You should see Egan in the song "I get by" sung by Stealers Wheel. You think he looks mischievous in this one, watchh "I get by" through to the end of the song. Talk about mischievous! It's an incredible song too! It's definitely a song from the PEACE generation.....
so I guess that was Joe Egan singing Stuck in the Middle with You?
