First things first has anyone seen a Subaru Vivio as I certainly haven't.
Secondly the model of VW Polo featured (the Genesis Coupe) had a 1043cc engine with 45bhp. It could manage 90mph but as they said 20 seconds to 60mph. The same engine was fitted in the later Polo 6n from late '94. This engine was replaced by a 999cc 50bhp engine in '96. That's what my 2001 Polo has - 0-60mph in 18.4 seconds (but raced a Mercedes and won once - it was a Merc van, though!)
the Ford Fiesta should of got 3rd place, i see more K and L reg Fiestas than i do those crappy Citroen AX's, the Ford Fiesta is my favourite car in the world, i own a silver S-reg MK4 Ghia and one day i hope to get an old 1980's XR2
@dan14676 Are you fucking joking?!!!! Fiestas were rust buckets!! Rattly, shitty rust buckets at that, terrible cars in every way..... You still see AXs around today, alot more than horrible ford shite!
wo, wo, wo sweet child of mine. 'They can all top 90mph', I've got a Micra from this era and I woundn't push it past 85mph. Its not the power, its the gearbox, when your doing 70mph on the motorway in 5th, the things revving at 3500 revs, getting over 20mph on top of that.... you'll just blow your engine.
I own a 93 AX and it is nippy as hell. It may only be a 1 Litre but it is so light it feels like you're driving something with a MUCH bigger engine. And it has hardly any rust, only a tiny bit around the wheel arch which was easily fixed and a little rotting where the drivers side rear wheel kicks up dirt.
I've owned AX, Fiesta, Micra, corsa, metro's and 106 in the past 13 years and my AX was a little 954cc and it topped out at 95 and never did less than 42mpg (when driven normaly) my fiesta was a rust bucket that blew the head gasket, my micra 1.3 ate its piston rings after 164k miles, my 106 954cc (same as AX) was a great reliable little car that was stolen and found burnt out in woods, my corsa was good but i crash, my 3 metro 1.1's reliable and rusty but could do 110mph
29 mpg from a peugeot 106!!!!? I don't know which engine they had on test there but even the 1.6 should do over 35! I think they may have got that slightly wrong.
@soundseeker63 I'm not going to bother with one any more. By the time I can get a job and work up enough money to run a car my insurance will have dropped sufficiently for me to get an Austin or Rover Mini!
@poepflater Not everybody steals a car for an ego boost, over here they steal them to go joyriding or to do a ram raid. I used to have one in black and it was stolen after just 3 weeks. Police found it a couple of days later wrapped around a tree, UNFORTUNATELY the driver wasn't hurt in the crash...
@jml8841 Lol, I guess africa has its benifits, if they want your car here, you get shot and thrown out of it, I mean it seems to be the easiest way to get the key. But I can't believe how how bad it sounds over there, who in their right mind would want to "joy"ride in an Uno. If its still in fair shape you are lucky to get 100mph on a straight with the wind from behind. :)
OMG I spot a Lada Samara, I grew up with my Dad owning one of them... God only knows why I wasn't put off cars for life.
As far as I know it was Russia's attempt at making a car for a human being though what sort of human they had in mind is unknown. Lights, cables and bodywork constantly went iffy, not to mention the whole dashboard unit could be pulled off and would sometimes fall off all by itself, while you was driving it!
Poor Volkswagen Polo , it wasn't on the roads for that long you know!! The enquiry is complete The vehicle details for K454 XRP are: Date of Liability 20 08 1999 Date of First Registration 04 11 1992 Year of Manufacture 1992 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1043CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour RED Vehicle Type Approval null

Why have the British named Opel into Vauxhall?

Talking about reliability... most of the 'older' cars on the UK roads are still Nissan Micras (including mine! :)) ,...WIcked cars!

The Rover Metro was only put down for looks. I think it's much nicer than the 106 and th Clio.
theothertrainee 9 months ago
@theothertrainee Well that, and probably the fact that even when this test was shot it was nearly a 15 year old design.
How was it ever going to stack up against brand new vauxhall/peugeot/nissan rivals?

Why the mocking of the Fiesta, they should have taken the 1.3 instead of a 1.1 or even a 1000cc version

@poepflater And the easiest to break in to. It takes less time to break into an Uno than it takes the damn thing to reach 60MPH!!!
jml8841 1 year ago
@jml8841 which is ironic, as noone steals them here, not enough of a ego boost, and the parts are dirt cheap, even brand new.
