Disagree. Billy Gould's bass made the sound funky. Add the distorted semi-metal guitar and Mike's not-terrible rap-rock lyrical tempo, and you've got yerself a completely original sound right there. The closest thing that came to it was Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I still think FNM kicks their asses.

weren't these guys pretty much the inventor of this genre? 1990, there wuz a ton of amazing music out. grunge wuz bustin out, alternative and punk wuz going nuts, metal and glam wuz still raging, rap was still mixed with r & b, faith no more was huge, this tune dominated.

Thats too bad you missed a lot of good "prime" years when they had the buzz. I heard of them when they had Chuck, but did not see them till 91. It was in small venue of about 2,000 or so, very intimate and the only way to see a live show! Jim Martin years were the best, after him it became more of the Mike Patton band. I am glad you got to see some semblance of the band, 17 years too late but better than nothing.
